Thanks JasM.

Huge difference but that's hardly surprising. That was a 6 speed 2.7 TDV6. This is an 8 speed 3.0 SDV6. Engine feels more refined (revving or idling).

Gear changes were already very smooth in my old one but this takes it to another level.

Accelerates much quicker as 65 more horses make an obvious difference. No turbo lag anymore. Makes a much nicer sound when you boot it in Sport mode Very Happy

Haven't used dynamic mode on proper twisty roads yet but I remember it was superb when I had the SDV6 for a few days last year.

+/- pedals in the steering wheel are great. I didn't use command shift much in my old one because the only way I knew to move between command shift and auto was to move the gear lever left/right. Never felt like a quick enough operation to me. Now I can just use the flappy pedals without moving my hands off the wheel. Switching back to auto (D) is as simple as holding the + pedal for a few seconds Cool

My old one had a good enough suspension to make me reject the idea of changing to any of the competitors I tried but this is even better. Could be due to age - it is 4 years newer than my previous.

Very happy with everything else too.

Thanks for the comments and Laughing re gear stick. I try to rest my hand "there" and it just goes down. Will get used to it soon but for now it does feel a bit incomplete.

Welcome to the Elite club Whistle

Looking good Cool

Have to say coming from MY10 I thought the BEd was miles ahead in refinement so must be a big jump from the 2.7 Bow down

The rotary gear shift is cool I think the new model RRS gear stick is a backwards step - looks old fashioned now IMHO Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Very nice fkairm Thumbs Up
Its looking like the SDV6 it the more popular choice over the overpriced RRS2. Enjoy, its a cracking motor. Wink Find a nice twisty quiet road that you know, put it in Dynamic mode, everything stiffens up, Very Happy put it in sports box, use the paddle shift and go and enjoy the ride. Great fun. Razz

Thanks all.

Ady TBH if it was just about choice and no other factors involved, it would have been RRS2 (as it does look great in the right colour etc. and is a better car inside out) or the new FFRR. But this is a great improvement on my previous RRS so I am happy Very Happy
