Hello Everybody..

After 3 FL2's I have taken the plunge and just collected a MY12 RRS Very Happy , been promising myself that I would have one before we are all forced to drive Nissan Leaf or similar... Sad

Have to say the Sport is an awesome motor....just hope I don't experience some of the issues that are reported on the forum.

First questions!!

1 Will a full size spare wheel fit on the carrier?

2 Is there a decent security device available to prevent the theft of said wheel...cannot beleive how easy it would be to steal..

Hi Slider, welcome to the party Thumbs Up

I have a anti theft device fitted to my sport from Ray at RLD. Good bit of kit to stop the theft of your spare, cost is about £75 delivered and much cheaper than having it nicked. Do a quick search for more info, think you can use a 20" spare but you would need to check to be sure.

The 2012MY sports had the winch redesigned to make a spare more difficult to steal...they also fitted a smaller spare.

Whilst its not then impossible to steal (nothing is) its now more difficult than older models. Mike

First of all welcome Bow down

As others have said full size spare should fit but IIRC the website/brochure did mention some instances where spacesaver only could be fiited - think it may of been with Autobiography kit or fixed tow bar but not sure now Confused

I have the modified winch but fitted the RLD device as I think it is still more secure than the modified winch Rolling Eyes

Finally - sorry Hicky I disagree - had 6 faultless LR's (including 2 FL2's) before I bought my RRS's. I drive and look after these better because they cost me twice as much but sadly finding you don't always get you pay for. Missing wiring looms, defective paintwork, knocking suspension and incompetent dealer/technicians just for starters are nothing to do with how I drive or look after my vehicle Whistle

I do agree you should enjoy it though - I certainly do when it's going ok Cool Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Not sure I agree with that. I've had a fair number of issues and mine is serviced on the dot by a LR dealer (may be that's part of the problem?) so has the correct fluids used and only ever has decent quality fuel used in it.

The RRS just seems to be a "hit and miss" sort of vehicle.

Edit: I see you've replied to a similar point from muddy Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
