Selling plenty though - anyone remember the recession Whistle

I thought the MY10 HSE demo I bought last time was expensive at £46k and only got the current BE thanks to discounts, 0% finance and an endowment maturing at the right time but this will be my last looking at new model prices Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Is it just me or can anyone else not quite see the point in the V8 at that price?
I've a new ATB SDV6 which I'm loving and reckon that there is sufficient power for everyday use. I'd love the 5L but the fuel running costs are just a bit too much for me. The SDV8 on paper just doesn't seem all that different in performance terms to the V6, but yet it's considerably more expensive and returns (understandably) less fuel economy. I'm not sure I get who is going to buy these.

If you want performance, there's the petrol. Throw into the mix the hybrid and its all a bit confusing who will get what when they're priced the same. It seems odd that you have the same price for: economy driving (hybrid), fast driving (supercharged) and the V8 diesel in the middle? But for £££ less you can have the V6 in the middle?

I'm looking to swap mine after about a year of owning for personal and financial reasons (too complicated to explain here!). I need to probably order a new one soon, but just don't know which to go for. I'm happy with the purchase price but depreciation is most important to me as the next one I'll keep longer. So what will the market really be wanting in he future on the second hand market: hybrid, petrol, V6 or V8!?

Also with the extra electric motor and total bhp being over 300 in the hybrid, is it quicker than the current SDV6?

I wonder if the hybrid will suffer the most depreciation - I can see the second hand market being concerned about the potential cost of sorting/replacing the batteries etc. after a few years. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
