Bit of advice please

Hi all, I am thinking of changing the wheels on my sport and as it has a land Rover warranty I need to stick with genuine wheels so looking at the 20 inch 5 spoke design. As I understand it there is a "normal" silver alloy wheel and also a silver and grey wheel which I think is described as diamond turned ?

Reading on here somewhere it sounds as if the grey and silver diamond turned wheels are much more of a problem to have them refurbished after the inevitable kerbing marks. Can anyone confirm this for me please and is there anything else to take into consideration between these two options ?

Hello Rigsby,
I am doing the same at the moment and my current alloys are diamond cut with kerbing. These are a lot more to get repaired, but only if you want them diamond cut. You don't have to, you can just have them repaired in plain silver or whatever takes your fancy.
I am changing my wheels to the 5 spoke design which I feel are a lot nicer.
This Guy on EBay will even buy your old set off you in part ex for the 5 spoke ones.

Hope this helps.

I was looking at changing mine to the AB style polished type - I was offered some for £600 with tyres but 2 needed refurbing ( tyres was shot ) - I was then quoted approx £150 per alloy for refurb. The homework I done suggested it is a pain in the Censored both financially & time wise to bother. If you don't mind the odd kerb mark not a problem but I like the alloys mint. The other answer - once the alloys are kerbed is to have them refurbed but painted instead of polished Confused

Thanks chaps, so if I went down the silver/grey route there are still options when they need refurbishing, that's good to know. I have two tyres that are only a week old and the other two which have 6-7mm on them so it would be wheels only and swap the tyres over. Thanks for the link JPR , I wonder if they will do a part ex on the old wheels if I am not buying tyres... may have to get on the blower Thumbs Up MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

I have got the diamond turned alloys on my RRS and they look great, but cost a fair to refurb them if you want them re-cut. I have got a few kerb marks on mine ( not my fault btw Whistle ). I have been quoted £120 per wheel to get them refurbed.

JPR did he budge on price? I rang this afternoon but although the ebay add gives the option of making an offer he wouldn't budge. Is it a fair price? a good price? MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

There are cheaper ones on EBay, I was just looking at his as he will take mine in part ex that need repairing.
Its a lot less hassle, otherwise I would have to take mine off get them repaired then put on EBay and hope for the best.
Keep looking if you are unhappy with the price, I am sure cheaper ones are out there. Thumbs Up Current Volvo XC90 R Design T8

JPR his wheels look good and a lot of the ones on eBay are copies which I'm not interested in. He has offered a px deal against mine which makes everything straight forward and easy . There are more options in design than I realised so hoping for a few pictures to see how they look before I make a decision Thumbs Up MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys
