United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

The simple fact is that even a poor winter tyre is going to perform better than a summer tyre during the colder months. Fitting winter tyres will give you better braking performance in cold wet and cold dry conditions and obviously in snow too. LR's recommended winter tyre will be much better than running "all season" or summer tyres.

If you're really worried about puncture replacements then buy a 5th tyre and have it fitted to a second hand spare wheel. Then you'll have 5 summer and 5 winter tyres. Thumbs Up These days you can often get a puncture repaired anyway so the chances of killing a tyre are lower than you might fear. (Having said that I now expect to get an non-repairable puncture... Big Cry )

Actually, now I think about it, one of my Wintracs was repaired last winter.

Muddy, I note in the ABI document that the phrase used is "the relevant vehicle manufacturers' [sic] specifications". So a tyre that meets the size, loading and speed ratings will be fine. It doesn't mean that it has to be a given make/model of tyre. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I had Star Performer on a previous car and they were awful. Load, poor in the wet, uneven ride and feathered terribly - never again! What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!
