Assume this is related to your previous post regarding the turbo failure and subsequent escape of oil into the intercooler and a cylinder bore. Think you said the garage suspected a bent con rod and were going to check by removing the injectors and measuring the stroke of the cylinders. Would imagine it takes a real expert to get this right.

Obtaining parts to rebuild either the TDV6 or the TDV8 is notoriously difficult because somehow the supply of official parts is restricted to the one engine remanufacturer that Land Rover use. There are companies that advertise supply and fit of rebuilt engines on eBay but it is not clear how they source the necessary parts and it has even been suggested they just cobble them together from bits of several engines that have suffered complete failure.

Suppliers of a few parts - just bearings- have recently appeared but are pretty expensive.

Assuming you have tried Land Rover themselves for supply of a con rod without any luck then your only hope might be trying to locate a blown TDV8 engine being stripped for parts by an engine rebuilder. Maybe start with the federation of engine remanufacturers?: http://www.fer.co.uk/

Don't know how you would make sure the crank and rods were a balanced and matched set after changing one con rod unless you do a complete engine strip though. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I'm almost 100% sure you can use the conrod of the 2.7 TDV6

these should be widely available, even from an old Jaguar or even Citroen 2.7 v6 engine.
