Vanmaster caravans in administration

Looking for some advice,

Purchased a new vanmaster in December, phoned up today to sort out some niggles.

Sorry sir the administrators are in Big Cry The question is does that now mean my warranty is Invalid Question

If bought out is the new company obliged to honour the existing warrantys Question I think I know the answer to these questions just hoping somebody can give me a bit of advice of where I stand legally

Thanks in advance.

Mark

Sorry to hear that, but administration is a good thing in this case at the moment the administrator should honour any warranty. Going forward they are obviously hopeful of a sale of the business as a going concern in which case the new purchaser should also honour the warranty. Did you buy it direct or through a dealer if a dealer then they should honour the warranty. Good luck Thumbs Up

Only experience I have had of warrentee and administrators is when HMV went t**s up. Told me to send headphones back to manufacturer as they weren't in a position to help. But I'm fairly certain guarantee dies with the company legally speaking. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Sadly you just become another unsecured creditor - although you might not have a value - as anything wrong with the caravan will be covered by no one, all you can do is claim for any repairs etc and then unsecured creditor.

Best bet is to find a local independant who can sort any problems out but you will have to pay - often those that advertise in caravan club magazine are quite good.

Sorry

An official statement has been issued by the administrators:

Vanmaster Ltd statement 30.04.13
James Sleight and Geoffrey Martin of Geoffrey Martin & Co have been appointed as joint administrators of Vanmaster Ltd, which operates under the trading styles of Vanmaster Caravans and Bentley Motorhomes. The company employed 20 people on two sites in Wigan. All staff have been made redundant as ongoing production is not possible.

James Sleight, partner at Geoffrey Martin & Co, said: “The business entered administration due to a drop in orders and supplier issues which affected production. We are hopeful that a buyer can be found, as we believe that either or both businesses could be complimentary to existing manufacturers or retailers.”

Tim Downs, who represents Geoffrey Martin & Co, told MMM that anyone with outstanding deposits and orders, or with questions about warranties and servicing, should contact Geoffrey Martin & Co on 0113 244 5141. Paul

Thanks pjb

Spoke to the administrator today, basically as you say, on a list without any chance of work being completed due to work ceasing etc.

Ah we'll looks like its a DIY job for most things apart from the yearly servicing Big Cry Now gone Orkney grey SDV6 HSE with body style kit contrast stitch ebony leather, privacy, black piano, 22" Lowenharts for summer, 20" with Leon LTZ for winter.

Thanks muddywheels Thumbs Up

Unfortunately I think I know the predicament I'm now in and it's not looking good Big Cry after all the crap I've had with swift Before I bought this I could have done without this crap

Unless the new company coming in honour the warranty which I don't think they will. Then it's every man for himself Censored

As for the caravan community, since I upgraded its as if I've grown two heads, but that's what most folk think who don't tow the old tin sheds so should be used to it now. Whistle

Lets see what happens

Regards

I got caught when MG/Rover went under having just bought a new TF with cash that became worthless overnight and started going wrong Evil or Very Mad

Since then I always finance even if I pay it back shortly after in the hope I have more protection under the consumer credit act - if you borrowed any of the money or paid deposit with a credit card you could have some protection Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I'd be interested to find out what legal right they have to prevent a topically discussion on how those who have spent a few thousand pounds on a vanmaster and now find themselves out in the cold on their warranty Question

Those who are "watching" maybe could enlighten us

Maybe those effected could set up their own website to disscuss and vito any suggestion to remove free speach Evil or Very Mad

A post from the caravan forum for Rud Bow down

Quote:
It appears that the recently gone into administration, a UK caravan manufacturer has been bought and is set to start production next week from the premises previously occupied by a UK caravan manufacturer.
Having spoke today with the administrators for a UK caravan manufacturer, it is likely that only pennies will be paid out to creditors, once the have agreed the terms of claims against them. It is also said by the administrator that many of the original employees will be retained.
Whilst this is good news for the workers and a UK caravan manufacturer owners who will be able to get parts etc in the future it is little comfort to those who have suffered losses.

Here's hoping the new owners meet the required level of standards that would be reasonably expected in production and customer services.
Good luck to the new owners and may there investment be fruitfully.
