It's probably because you have the remote still in your hand or pocket. The remote fob and door have a 'proximity sensor' to allow the keyless entry system to work. Try locking the car with the remote then leaving the remote fob 20 feet or so away from the car and trying the door handle again.

Im having a similar problem on my 06 I don't have the keyless problem as its not on my rrs. When I lock the car my back passenger door doesn't lock. Yet if I deactivate the alarm after I opened the door and set the alarm off and lock it again using the key fob it locks as it should. Any one shed any light on this matter at all. |

Still got this problem - I have done this with the fob no where near the car and the rear drivers door opens when it is meant to be locked but when it opens it activates the alarm. |

Perhaps you both have the well-known door latch motor failure problem.

Yip I agree with Paddi if door is not locking It will prob be your latch, they have two small motors in them which screw the lock on when you lock the car they tend to burn out which means you can't lock that door. Try locking the door in question manually from inside the car then lock car with fob, that door should stay locked whither you unlock or lock the car. This job can be done if your a diy'r.
