Broke last week also the rubber top layer of my second RRS key....guess Land Rover did not expect the car to last longer than 90 k miles.
Anyway....
While looking for an solucion, found besides the option to buy a new key from the stealer, the following on Fleabay:

Changed the chip and the key blade over to the new key case.

Beter then new!

Have seen a few complaints that the Chinese replacement key fob cases are poor quality and the key blade from the old fob won't fit. Perhaps yours was from a superior source.  2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
