TDV6 is replacement alternator a DIY job?

Battery warning light came on a little while ago, having looked through the forum, seems to be a lot about changing an alternator on TDV8 but not a lot on a TDV6 is it a DIY job or do I have to put it into LR to be fixed About to get into a sport

It is still a DIY job, but if you have ARC/Dynamic Response, it can be quite awkward to get the 2 bottom bolts out of the alternator

If no ARC is fitted, then its a half hour job Thumbs Up

had a look this morning, have taken the air pipe out of the way, and the top half of the fan cover, had another look and have now stopped, next move would be to take off the fan, not sure how I remove the bottom half of the fan cowling as this looks like it will be in the way About to get into a sport

If you have factory fit Brembo's, then you have DR.

The bottom part of the fan cowling does not need to come out Thumbs Up

There have been a few posts of members buying alternators from Euro car parts and them failing shortly after, if this is the case then you need to get it replaced .

But first check your battery as the old alternator failing could have damaged your battery.

Flack Thumbs Up

United Kingdom

My bros RRS had the battery light on for a few days.

Then failure and it has goosed his battery completely.

Its a TDV6 too.

When mine went on my D3 last month I disconnected the battery immediately and its ok.

Fun innit! Thumbs Up All things transport and logistics, international and national shipping.

Turned out be the 'Alternator Link Wire' was faulty which probably caused the alternator failure to start with, wire replaced and all working now - thanks for the advise and pointers
