Harmon Kardon ICE Issues

Hi - I've recently purchased a 10/2012 RRS Autobiography but have a few issues that i'd like to pick someones brains on?

1 - Harmon Kardon Sub in the tailgate adds nothing more than creating a bad resonating that sounds desperately cheap and somewhat embarrassing, so much so I've had to turn it off. It adds nothing to the quality of the sound at a low/mid level which isn't right for a sub. Any thoughts?

2 - When any input (TV/FM/DAB/iPOD) is being played every minute or so the audio cuts out with a crackle through the speakers and stays off for a couple of seconds before playing again, to say this is irritating is an understatement. Even when the volume is turned off every now and then you still hear the 1/2 second crackle through the speakers.

The car will be going back to LR but thought I'd try and get some "sound" advice from a wider audience so I can make sure the car is fixed in one visit rather than the garage say that they weren't able to recreate the problem.

Thanks in advance

Point 1 - Do you really have it that loud? Never had that problem in mine, you sure it is secured properly?

Point 2 - Check out this thread its a known problem, currently without a fix Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Hi - Thanks for getting back to me

1 - No, I don't listen to the system very loud but as with the sub in my old 911 and my Sonos sub at home the sub adds a richness and warmth to music at low levels. Just seem pointless to have a sub there if you can turn it all the way off and turn it all the way up and hear little or no difference other than a rattling in the boot

2 - Bugg3r Sad

Thanks

RRS 2012- same issues with my audio system. Cuts out every minute or so with a crackle through speakers, tv,cd, radio and phone. Only got car on 22nd Sept but haven't noticed when this started. Several threads on here regarding same issue so beginning to think it isn't an issue with the cars but rather an external interference

I have the Sub issue on current RRS and previously rejected RRS - MSE did too I believe Confused

Dealer has replaced sub today advising it was faulty and it has improved but the carpet/cover is vibrating and spoiling the sound quality so will be requesting they look at it again Rolling Eyes

I recommend a visit to your dealer because I suspect it is a known issue all things considered Whistle Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Well you'll be interested to know that my car has been returned to me following a trip to JLR for minor warranty work, I asked them to address the audio cutting out/crackle and after a 30min journey home last night the audio didn't skip a beat, neither did i hear any crackle when volume is turned off. I made sure to test TV, DAB, iPod and FM and there was no interruption of signal. According to JLR it was a necessary software update which has been carried out. Keep you posted if anything changed but it would appear to have been remedied.

My sub was rattling on bass songs - they refitted it with new clips and its fine. Thumbs Up the sub in mine is really good even loud...

Apart from....them leaving some clips in which now are rattling in the boot when it opens. Banging Head so it will be going back in for them to fix Mike

Issue:
Customer failure mode is an intermittent 1-2s loss of audio in any source, which then recovers but can happen multiple times.
The occurrences may vary depending on location and proximity to transmitters in the UK.
Cause:
The issue first occurred on Wednesday 28th August and corresponds with a change in the UK Broadcast for TV Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) feature.
This issue appears only to affect vehicles fitted with the Lear Hybrid TV module.
The broadcast causes the TV module to carry out a reset which results in a temporary loss in audio, irrespective of which audio function is being used e.g. (Radio, CD, etc).
Action:
As a temporary measure and with customer approval it is possible to mask this drop out by setting the TV region to USA. However, this does prevent the TV from operating but provides a quick although temporary fix until a more permanent resolution can be found.
1. No parts are to be changed in an attempt to resolve this issue.
2. Disable TV by selecting USA region from the touchscreen
3. It is essential to perform a successful shut down of thevehicle electrical system, by ensuring the ignition system is off and not used for a minimum of 5 minutes. This ensures the TV records this as a 'last good state' and that the new region is stored when the vehicle is powered on.
4. This is a temporary solution until permanent fix can be established. JLR will communicate this permanent fix as soon as possible.
