I'm sure there will be a sticky somewhere that I didn't read and would have saved me hours but if anyone is considering changing their interior lighting to Led, one word of advice.....

Do not remove the whole clear plastic unit from the headlining!

It was only after much puzzling over how to hold the rear metal frame in place to re-install that I realised the internal clear section comes away from the complete unit!!

Removing the centre piece only is much easier and takes seconds.

On the bright side (excuse the pun) I now have very bright (red) interior lighting and am very happy with the result  2011 Evoque Si4 Dynamic plus lux

On a Sport the original wiring isn't long enough to get the light out also the rear lights don't work as normal interior lights unless you mod the wiring feed, they are designed as "reading" lights for some strange reason known only to LR  2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Big Dave, I wish I had read thhhi before removing one of the lights, how did you amange to get it back in again without hhaving to release the roof lining mate, I am getting really annoyed with itt now and get it back in again  2010 Alaska white 3.6TDi v8, heated steering wheel, Ipod connection, Aribica extended leather, Digital TV, voice activation, privacy glass, Dynamic pack

Pop the internal cover out from the main clear unit and you'll be able to refit the surround and backplate quite easily. Once you've sussed it, it's easy! 2011 Evoque Si4 Dynamic plus lux

Magic, got that sorted with the help of some small needle nose pliers, now as was suggested earlier, the wire on the passenger side is too short, and when i pulled the internal light fitting out of the holder the wire also came out of the connection, and of course its tto short to pull out and plug back in, unbelievable these Landrover guys, Jemery Clarckson got itright when he said that when they were buiding it, they said that will instedad of doing it right.

I managed to pull the connector out and hold it with some thin long nose pliers while reconnecting the light fitting.

my cables were about 2" longer than required, so job done pretty easily. Maybe they tried scrimping on cabling post 2005 models ?? Lol

Prefer RR Vouge S/C but they don't do Orange !

The wires on mine were long enough, the problem is they are taped too short.
When you remove the light, try to go in with the finger following the wires, you should be able to get where the tape is and unglue them. '08 RRS TDV8
I converted my diesel RRS to run on an environmentally friendly mixture of caribou fat and baby seals oil

Yeah got it with small pliers, the wire was tapped to the roof lining so released with a tug on it and managed to pull enought through to plug it in .
