Variable or adaptive dampers retro fit

Hiya all

Just recently aquired a 2010 RRS HSE with 95K on the clock and has ACE but not the Adaptive damping / constantly variable damper system (CVD).

Its had all the bushes and front bearings done recently but it seems that the front shocks have totally had it, and as it has done mega amounts of towing by its previous owner, i guess the rears are probably not far behind.

Not being that familiar with the sport over my D3 and in pre apologizing for not searching about this i hope someone here can simply just tell me if the shock failure is quite common or not. Also if the Air Bags themselves are worthy of changing.

Those that know me from the D3 forum will appreciate that i love nothing more than do upgrades on my Landies and I am certainly not adverse to dealing with re wiring and loom mods / swaps at a very serious level. I also happen to have a full wiring loom and all ECU's from a 2011 HSE sport that has CVD fitted.

So i am considering replacing the shocks on this vehicle with CVD versions with a view to producing an electronic widget to control them manualy, or even fully retrofitting the entire CVD system.

However i do have to first wonder if the CVD system is even worth adding at all.

So i am asking if anyone have any with and without comparison experience that might help me assess the worth of my delving into this deeper.

Many thanks in anticpation.

Colin
