Hi Guys,

I have 22" on my Revere RRSport. I have just purchased the car few weeks back, and after a slow puncture I got the wheels taken off and have been told they are cracked

It is a common problem - that is what i have been told. Any advice or can anyone shed any light on this matter?

On 22" there is very little rubber protecting the wheel. The car weighs about 2.5tonne, so not surprising and yes, it is a relatively common occurrence for cracked wheels on the bigger sized rims.
20" gives you much better protection and less chance of cracking, although it still happens.  Bodsys Brake Bible

Sorry to hear. Sometimes they can be welded, but I wouldn't like to chance it. As said, 20" wheels will have plenty of sidewall to absorb the shock from terrible road conditions!

Hi, been there, seen it, done it, bought the video. Exactly where I have been in the past. As previous advice says, go for 20 inch wheels. Makes a difference to drive, ride etc etc and possible costs in the future. Honestly 20inch are best. I have just bought another sport and am in the process of changing to 20 inch rims.

seems like 20" is the way to go forward, but I have purchased the revere model with all the work having been done by Revere, an outstanding finish if i may add, so would not be opting for the downgrade to 20'' atm. I have been quoted £35 to get the wheel welded, seems a good punt, so wish me luck with it guys! Range Rover Sport HSR

That seems like a very fair price. I bet you will be dodging potholes now! (in a 4x4 haha)

So lets get this right, you can end up paying near on £4k for a set of 22" only for them to crack. Do the manufactures put any warranty on their wheels....

If the wheel is welded properly, it will be just as strong as before. And £35 is pretty reasonable

Purchased my RRS with 22's had 1 welded within weeks. When I came to have the alloys refurbed the company called me to go back & take a look at the alloys once they had been taken off the car. 3 was all had at least 1 crack the 1 had 3. What size tyre wall does your RRS tyres have - should not be less than 35 - apparently 30 are for lighter SUV's not the RRS. changed to 20in rims - purchased the Britpart suspension lowering tool - it hasn't lost none of its looks in fact it drives & feels a lot better.  16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

i was going to say, might be worth kicking up a fuss with Revere and seeing what they say. They might recommend different tyres. Then at least when another one cracks they would have no excuse
