She who must be obeyed has given me the greenlight to buy the new Mountain Bike at long last,
mostly trail work so nothing to mad or technical, narrowed it down to the following so would be
interested in the views of the learned biking community on the Sport forum Whistle Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

cant go wrong with a rockhopper, but i have a scott spark , maybe worth noting that the geomerty on scotts are set up more towards racing position for the rider so geared towards been lent forward more than norm.
ask the shop if you can take it out for a ride for a hour or so do same for the other bikes and see what your more comfortable with. also if your broad you might need to change the bars to get if comfy. (im quite broad and found the bars to be a couple inches to narrow for me so was hurting across shoulders)

just dont be like beancounter on his road bike steer clear of the tight bright lycra suits Whistle only the dead truely know peace,
Bootneck its not a job its a way of life!

Nothing wrong with riding in a group, however I think it's better to be at the back of the pack Whistle

rear 2nd from the left blondie (i surmise as i only have the rear view) has gone full commando Smile
what club are they from Whistle

Back on topic, went around a few of the shops today, after more research i noticed the Trek
had higher spec components in particular the front Shocks xc32 v xc28 and Shimano gearing
and cranks all round rather than Shimano/Suntour combinations which the Trek people hinted
needed consideration, that said i do like the look and feel of the Spec RH Comp so that will
likely be the bike of choice Thumbs Up Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Well i took the advice of the most learned on the forum and ordered today the new
2014 Specialized Rockhopper Comp 29er, the 2014 model has 2 x 10 speed rather
than the 3 x 9 arrangement Thumbs Up Should pick it up next weekend

Cheers
