the sport is dead

hallo everybody, my name is dave, i live in belgium and it's my first post
love this forum and is nice to see that how all of you helping eachother
now my problem , was driving on saterday afternoon with the radio to loud,
and in now time my car shut's down and no restart possible, i work in a truck garage
so i went for a tow truck in the shop i was looking on the net for some info
a lot of people had the same problem
alternator , startermotor, wiringloom, and engine
so i start looking on the car, so check't all of that , for last i took the crankcase of
and start Big Cry Big Cry , my camshaft bearings lie's in the crankcase
i call at land rover belgium and explained what happend the car is from 2005 and is always
serviced by land rover , the last service was in 01/2012 its not normal for a car of 7 years old and full service at land
rover so i ask what they could do, he answer " I'M SORRY CAN'T HELP YOU, YOU'RE OUT OF WARRRENTY" i know land rover is out of stock with engine's , i found a 2007 engine with 48.000 km or 29825 mi
so what will you guys do in my shoes

You could push LR head office as it's a common problem, although usually for 07 onwards

Or if the engine you have found is a good price, take that, put a new oil pump case on and timing belts etc Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

thanks for the fast reply bodsy, i think i'm going for the secondhand engine and do the things you said.
the engine cost 4900 £ , if you know are there other problems with the 2007 engine

4900£ sterling!!!!

Wow, thats seriously into LR recon price range. I think mine would have been £5400 for a Landrover supplied service exchange engine.

Most breakers yard engines seem to be about £3,500

Disco_Mikey got his one from a EuroJag, so some bits need swapping over, but basically the same engine and almost half that price. Thumbs Up

Hi Guys New question can i fit a 2007 engine in a 2005, if yes do i have change software or anything else. Today i took The body of the chassis and it went well, ofcourse with the how to list on this forum Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Hi guys , still Busy on the Car but my friends at work ask me why i don't put a 3.0 or 3.6 engine in the Car. Is this possible and what Would i need for extra Parts. Thanks allready

3.0 wpuldnt work as its completely different management systems, and probably not compatible with early models

3.6 may work, but again, would need the whole management system replaced. Would be cheaper and easier to replace your 2.7 like for like, sell up and buy a 3.6 Thumbs Up
