A question for all fault code reader users please

When you scan for DTFs how often do you find the transfer case module reports 'U0101 lost communication with transmission control module, ? Every time, sometimes or not at all?

Am interested because my IID tool (beta software) finds this code every time. If I clear the codes it is always back again at the next scan. Trying to work out if this is related to my mysterious transmission thump that only occurs when cruising at about 70 mph but not very often; for example happened about twice on 120 mile journey from London to Bristol. The IID tool gives the odometer reading for the last occurrence in kms which roughly relates to the odometer reading at the time in miles if I convert it. The difference could be just a rounding error.

Have heard that 'lost comms' DTFs are normal and don't usually indicate a real fault but not sure about this case. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Yes we know them as historic codes it has happened but nothing to worry about, there is a bump fix file for the TCM on the v8 that is supposed to fix this problem.

Flack Thumbs Up

Flack,
Thanks for your response. Didn't want to make my post too long by listing all the things tried so far - but one of them was the updates to engine and gearbox software all done last week. No difference to the thump unfortunately but the engine seems a bit more powerful which we weren't expecting. Also cleared the gearbox adaptations of course, as you would know, that has to be done before the update.
As they say on 'The Apprentice'........the search continues........ 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
