I am contemplating my first RRS on a 55 or 06 plate 2.7 HSE but am a little under whelmed at the power.
What benefit would I expect to see from remapping etc. Would it be initial acceleration performance, mid end or top end performance, its more the initial to mid that I want to improve on (as do most people I suspect)
I would be happy to throw a little bit of money at it in order to get a good noticeable performance. Say up to £1000.

Can you guys tell me what I would expect, where I would need to go and what potential pitfalls I may encounter, is there a large reduction in fuel economy for the extra power? I have read that it would be around 50 extra BHP but that doesn't mean anything to my brain so I would love to hear in 0-60 terms

I test drove a Lexus RX400H hybrid which drove and pulled really well, a great acceleration of 0-60 in 7.6 with some nice mid range pull when you want it. But lets be honest, its not a head turner like the sport and doesn't give you that little bit of wee in your pants when you see one.

I'm hoping a remap will get me nearer the power I would like but I am aware its a big lump and cant expect miracles unless I am prepared to rent a petrol tanker to follow me.

A remap will transform the driving experience if you get the right one I would also consider getting the allsports or similar inter-cooler as well if you want some bit extra, Bell Auto's in York come highly recommended for remaps.
As for fuel if you want more grunt then something has to give if you floor it but over all you should see little difference with normal driving with fuel.

I'm hoping to talk to Pete (the owner of BAS) on Monday in order to pay for a map from him - I've just bought one of his remap units from a member of this forum for my TDV8.

For a 2.7TDV6, his site suggests an increase of some 38bhp and 88Nm (about 65ftlb). That's a healthy increase on 188bhp/324ftlb) and would probably take about 1.5 seconds off the 0-60 time if you're lucky (the 2.7 does 0-60 in about 12s, the 3.0TDV6 with 240bhp does it in about 9s). Cost is £595 which gets you a plug in unit and the remap. The unit acts as a fault reader too so that's useful. The remap isn't, as I understand it, as extreme as some others but it's also not a generic "one size fits all" appoach as you might get elsewhere.

If you want something that flies off the line then you're in the wrong vehicle, even with a remap. If you want a quick RRS then you need to change to the S/C. If you want a quick 4x4 and don't care about going off road then go for a Cayenne - it was designed to be a road vehicle from the start, although it does come with the necessary hardware to perform off road too if you're careful with your spec choices. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
