Is it worth the extra 15k 2.7 or 3.0L??

Hi

I am looking around at the RRS's that are on the market certainly a big choice.

I am a little torn between spending 20k or 35.

20k will buy me a nice workhorse 07/08 with that older interior and the 2.7

Or 35 will buy me a 09/10 with the 3.0 and the facelift and nicer interior and seats.......etc, are there huge mechanical differences?

Just hate lashing out that extra 15k

If I got a nice condition 2.7 would that in any way match up to the 3.0 facelift?

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance

Ash

England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Java Black

I bought a 2006 with 55k on it for 16k. I've bought new wheels, autobiography kit and diamond stitched 2010 style interior. Ill put prices up tomorrow to give you an idea on price. Roughly 24k in total with full colour change or 22k with just ab bits painted

Never really made my point there. My point was if you don't mind a bit of messing about sourcing parts theres an option in middle

i was thinking exactly like you and i went for the 07, decided to save the 10k and put 4k of that saving into pimping my car exactly the way i wanted it. i knew that if i bought the 09 or 10 plate, i would have made changes anyway, which would have pushed the price up even more. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
DONE: Meduza front bumper, AB rear bumper, AB tailpipes, calipers repainted, rear upper tailgate upgrade, side steps, AB front grille, AB side vents, rear LED lights, clear side repeaters, integrated daytime running lights, LED headlights.
TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

Can I suggest looking at 2010 SE spec, most of the toys from the 2.7 HSE were carried over to the facelift SE. The facelifted car is much nicer inside and the Jag 3.0v6 is as sweet as they come.there are quite a few on auto trader at around £26k so saving £10k over an HSE, it depends whether you are at all interested in the rear view camera and contrast stitched leather.i added some things like flappy paddles and mood lighting which are standard on the HSE and fitted 20" wheels.i bet there are quite a few second hand SEs with similar extras
Cheers

I too had originally set out to buy 2010 3.0 L RRS HSE, however I came across a well maintained 2007 RRS HSE at a good price and I decided to buy it.

Do I regret my purchase? Not at all, sure the 2010> RRS have a nicer interior and a more powerful engine, however my older RRS is still a great car with lots of toys and luxuries and still manages to turn heads. With the money saved I can put that towards my next car which will be a L405 Range Rover. Thumbs Up

Some phone pics of my RRS:

I would go the extra, it's not just the engine, the 8 speed box is soooo much better than the 6 speed Bow down 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈

Thought all the V6 3.0 have 8 speed box, certainly early ones I looked at in 2009 did. Could be wrong, it's not unknown Rolling with laughter 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

If you google ZF 8 speed box, it also produces a review dated 2009, of the new Range Rover Sport fitted with the new 3.0 ltr V6 with...... 8 speed box. I hate being wrong Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Must have been a typo or saying that the 8 speed was in development, as the 8 speed with the dial was definitely later than my 2010!

England

Had the MY10 and definitely 6 speed Thumbs Up

I looked at the 2.7 and it felt a bit lacking in power for the sport badge and the interior looked cheap/plasticky so I waited a few years until I could afford the 3.0 Embarassed

I'm sure you can get a good 3.0 for less than £35k - I saw some for £28k recently and only got offers around £29k for my low mileage with 18 months warranty when I traded it Bow down

I wouldn't buy a 2.7 and spend £1000's updating the interior because when you come to change you will not recoup the cost like you will on a genuine 3.0 example - in fact you may lose more money by putting off a large percentage of buyers Shocked Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!
