steering problem

hey up folks well after nearly year of just about trouble free motoring i now have a problem

on way back from northumberland i noticed on some of the turns my steering felt a bit strange almost like i had a puncture so pulled over checked pressures and even checked wheel bolts (just incase some jealous idiot had loosened them as was in a public car park over night)

checked power steering fluid was in range but topped it up to max just incase checked cant see any leaks but yesterday its got worse with the steering.

gave the wheels a good shake to see if any play theres none , got my mate to give the steering a wobble while i held the wheel and theres no play there either

best way to describe it is when i turn the steering goes light heavy light heavy

normally i go see me old man as hes a spanner monkey but sods law hes away for the week

so any one any ideas? after doing a search im thinking it could be a universal joint , but not sure if theres any sensors or anything that could be doing it as havent got me old mans OBD toold to pull codes

thanks in advance only the dead truely know peace,
Bootneck its not a job its a way of life!
