A thank you button?

Having looked through many informative and helpful posts on this forum, I think a 'thank you' button for posts that users agree with or find helpful would be good?

Just a suggestion, I don't wish to tread on any toes (just yet Wink ), but I think it would be a good addition to an already great forum. Thumbs Up

+1 ^^^

Also maybe a "like" button, sometimes you read a witty comment etc and would be easier to hit the like button than post a reply and would take up less page space

Not sure if Martin actually writes the code for this forum or if it's an off the shelf purchace which most forums are. It may be he can't actually manipulate the page to do this.

Just guessing. RRS TDV8 (loving it)

I need a like or thanks button here !

PHPBB is the script used for the site and Martin has customised it to make it the site we know, it involves adding a mod to the script to enable the functionality. Not necessarily a 5 minute job... Why?.. Because i can....

I think the idea is good and use it on other forums Thumbs Up , but being a sausage fingered idiot I sometimes when browsing on the iPad mini or iPhone hit 'thanks', generally on the most inappropriate posts Rolling Eyes , so if it is added, it would be good if you could also 'unthank' Laughing ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

i can see the reasons why people would want one, but i think it just as easy to post a reply with a simple Thumbs Up or even a new smiley Thank You

I find it annoying on another forum, were they use the thank you button, the original post ends up with a list a a hundred names that have said thanks

Instead of a thank you, why not make a donation to help with site costs...Oh God...It's happened...I've turned into V_A. Laughing RRS TDV8 (loving it)

^^^ I have, but i think Martin is still looking for my donation, as i haven't had a REPLY or THANK YOU to say he has received it yet. Whistle
And yes, i think a thank you button would be good as it will save a lot of "quote's" being use just to say thank you, seen as we arn't allowed to use the quote button too often Whistle A REPLY FROM THE BOSS WOULD BE NICE ON THIS SUBJECT. Shocked Or perhaps he doesn't read the site feedback section. Laughing

This has been requested on a few of the sites and I have resisted for a number of reasons, primarily because I think it is the start of reducing the forums to a Facebook level of interaction where people don't actually take the time to say thank you and add any extra comments, but just hit like and move on to the next post to like, and so on... it's in some respects quite a lazy option to interact on the forum.

I do, however, see the value of a like system to raise the profile of certain threads and flag them up for stickying, archiving, promoting, etc etc.

At the moment, and with the current forum platform, then yes it would be possible to add a "like" feature, but I'm not clear that we should have JUST a simple "like" function.

Don't forget that nothing stops you saying "Thanks" or "Like this" or "+1" at the moment, and it's much more personal.

Ady I have PMd on the subject you've raised above Smile Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!
