Albany assistance ?

Yesterday I have a guy run up the rear in slow moving traffic. Got out and its cracked the bumper a 2 sensor are pushed in, I spoke to my local LR dealer how in turn has had Albany assistance call me and they seem quite pushey to give me a hire car (sound ok to me) of like for like, but reading the reviews I am worried, has anyone used them ? Tesla Model Y - 2023

Talk to your insurer (you need to anyway because you've had a prang). Avoid a third party claims company. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Hi
I've used them as I had a non fault claim and admiral at the time put me on to them.
Like you I had my reservations and they are very pushy about taking a hire car however the reason for this is they charge a fortune to the other party for you taking a hire car which is how they make a lot of their money.
I ended up using them and took their Megane for a few days, they sorted out all the repair and everything was handled swiftly so wouldn't have an issue using them again.
The only thing which worried me slightly is they put a clause in that they make you sign to state that if they do not recover their costs within 2 years you are liable however on a clear cut case like someone shunting you from behind (which is always the other drivers fault) you'll have no issues with their insurers paying out as they don't have a leg to stand on.

Yep correct they give you a hire car then sting the insurance for the bill.

They normally offer you a car of the same standard as yours or better.

They are part of the Helphire group and as such, create problems when it comes to claims as they charge three times going rate. I had problems when my case went to court and judge deemed their rates excessive. Then followed another court hearing in small claims when there was a shortfall in hire charges. Won that one but still got brushed with negative credit until I got it wiped. Be careful Whistle 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Companies like this are essentially car hire companies who use accidents as the source of their business. Everything is geared to the hire of a car to you. They will only 'take you on' where it is clear that it is a no fault claim on your behalf, low risk high return hire business. As previously mentioned they charge exorbitant rates which are often challenged by the third party insurance company but historically to no avail.

I have used a different company in the past who worked on the same business strategy. It was set up by ex insurance people who understand how the insurance business works. They employ lawyers to support and maintain their business premise. In 2007 I used them when some one ran into the back of my new Q7 resulting in light damage to the rear bumper. It worked very well for myself, minimum hassle all managed by them etc but when I saw the final costs I was shocked when I found that they charged £200 per day for 10 days for the replacement Q7 hire Shocked I now reflect on this and from a moral point of view I would not use these companies again as I feel they contribute to the rising cost of insurance claims and hence higher premiums for us all. MY 2014 HSE Dynamic
