Serious TDV8 tuning

Ok guys I've seen lots of threads on mapping the tdv8 and read company's claims of between 50-70bhp gains with the maps but has anyone done any serious engine modding? don't get me wrong i think its plenty fast enough out the box but if someone did want to plough some money into it what options are there bigger turbo etc???

Cheers, Taddy

What ever you do to a TDV8, don't break it, you'll be waiting forever for a new one if simple1 thread is to go by

Hybrid Turbo's
De-cat
Performance exhaust
Larger injector nozzles

Given deep enough pockets, 350bhp should be easily achievable, and with even deeper pockets, I reckon you would see around 370-ish bhp, possibly more...

Cheers for that mate Wink

Think exhaust and a remap will do for a start what filters are available? If any.

npinks thanks for the heads up

The question is what will that sort of grunt do to the transmission? Getting 350bhp or more is presumably also going to give big increases in torque. At some point the transmission is going to cry "enough!" 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Surely if you want more 'umphff' then why no just get the V8 Supercharged ? Idea

Can't see the point in modding a TDV8 to death to be honest Confused ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I know we're ur coming from if it were numbers alone that I was after than supercharged v8 would be the way forward but the tdv8 is only a second slower so with a few Tweeks would give the supercharged a run for its money and still be a lot more fuel efficient, So just looking at the options available Wink

The TDV8's hardly a fuel efficient car albeit it is better than the petrol, but surely with that much tuning the little fuel efficiency that it does have is going to take a hit? Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

For sure but it's still gonna be better than the petrol, I spoke to a guy with the supercharged and he was getting around 12mpg I currently get 23 in my tdv8 and my old man gets 26 out of his tdv8 I'm not saying I'm gonna be ploughing thousands into my car just curious as to what people have done and what options there are.

For most, a straight remap on a TDV8 will be enough @ 320bhp

I ran a S/C for 2 days back and forward to work. Cruising at 70mph, I averaged 14mpg... Big Cry
Lovely car though Mr. Green
