looking to buy

Hi all,
My name is Matt from Nottingham UK
41 years old, married, i tow a speed boat and also a caravan (not at the same time
I am new to the forum and also new to range rovers, however i have wanted one for many years and i am kinda particular about what i am wanting.

I am looking to buy and in particular a Black Range Rover Sport HSE 2.7 Diesel, around the 2007 year (new bumper style) with "Hardon Kadron" stereo/nav system and also with the rear headrest tv's. Also a tow bar.

My question is this.

Is there anything in particular i should be especially looking out for cost wise, that goes wrong with the vehicles i am looking at?
Also i keep hearing about a split nav/ tv system so the driver sees the nav and the passenger sees tv all on the same screen.

Thanks for all your help

Hi Matt, Welcome to the forum. Smile

With regard to things to look out for, there are a fair few 'buying guide' type threads on here, but for starters, look here.
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic27122....ing+advice

Regarding the split screen Nav/TV, this is only an option from MY12 cars and not something i understand that can be retrofitted into a 2007 model. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
MERCEDES GL350 - Metallic Navy Blue w/Grey interior

GOING: BMW F31 335D MSport+ xDrive Touring
GONE: Land Rover Discovery 4 HSE - Stornaway Grey w/Black Interior (wish we'd kept it Banging Head )
GONE: BMW F10 520D MSport - Carbon Black
GONE:MY12 RRS SDV6 HSE Sumatra/Ivory/Grand Black Privacy glass

Hi beancounter and thank you for the reply.
Re the tv/dvd i am not really worried about trying to retro fit as i am sure the nav on its own is great. But the rear screens are a must or my son will not be happy.

Thank you for the link i'll go check it out.

looking forward to a lot more posts on here.

Also with the 2.7, i hear a remap is the way to go?
do you agree?

My first RRS was/is a 3.0 SDV6, so I have no experience of the 2.7, but by all accounts, i think those that have had it done would recommend a remap for that particular version to get the best out of it.

Regarding rear screens, have you thought about going the iPad (mini) route and bracket on the rear of the seat. A lot more versatile, just a thought Idea ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Hi Matt - welcome aboard Thumbs Up

I've not owned a 2.7 but there will be plenty that have a long in a moment or two Whistle

As for buying a RRS personally I would only buy one with a Full Main Dealer Service History These cars are a joy to drive but can be a nightmare if they go wrong! If you’re not buying from a main dealer you should get yourself good aftersales 3rd party warranty (I've used a company called WMS on several of my cars and they have always been quick at paying out)

As for the split sat nav/tv screen that wasn't available until late 2012/13 on the sport!

Good luck on your purchase - keep us posted and don't forget to put some pictures up - we love to see members cars Thumbs Up

Ps. My friend remapped his 2.7 and loved the extra BHP Thumbs Up Cheers Laurence.

Have you considered a TDV8? There are many on here that will argue it’s a better car than the 2.7 (I'm keeping out of that one!) and you won’t have to remap it as it has loads of power but then it will be more expensive to run than the 2.7

Looks like one of the members has put one up for sale with a LR approved warranty (I don't know the member or the car) Just pointing it out Either way both the V6 2.7 and TDV8 3.6 are both nice cars

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

Hi Matt and Thanks to Buster for pointing out my ad.

The TDV8 HSE has the premium Hi-ICE audio system which I'm not sure comes as standard with the V6 (I will stand corrected if others know more).

If you would be interested in finding out more about my vehicle don't hesitate to PM me. --------------------------------------------------------

Hi matt, if the rear tv screens are up at the top of your list have you considered the full fat. There are plenty about with rear tv screens, and with a remap on the td6 engine it is more than adequate and these are very cheap for the amount of car you get

Full Fat BTW, refers to the L322 model i.e. the Range Rover itself, rather than a Sport or Evoque. --------------------------------------------------------

My appologies BC. Wasn't meant to say van. Bloody fingers getting carried away.
I would love your RRS but with us having an extension being built and
With my wife being a Cockney hell would freeze over before she would let
Me have that much cash.

Sorry orangevanman the full fat is the full range rover, ie the original range rover and where it all I began I suppose you could say. They are great and you can get more for your money because you can go for an older vehicle. It just depends what type of vehicle you want. The range rover sport is called the sport for a reason, it is more sporty and engaging but if your happy to cruise in pure luxury you cannot go wrong, and the luxury is achievable with a smaller budget
