IIDTool RRS 2010> diagnostic sys: beta sales starting

The beta firmware for the 2010-2013 RRS IIDTool is ready! We now need beta testers!

As many already know, the IIDTool is a full diagnostic system for the RRS / LR4 /RR covering all functions on nearly all vehicle systems (please see functionality chart for the pre 2010 RRS - the chart for the 2010+ will be coming http://gap-diagnostic.com/products/iidtool.html).

Not all functions are avail for the first beta release. The functions avail are:
- Fault (DTC) read / clear
- Live values and component actuation (testing) - not all ECUs
- All EAS functions known from our IIDTool / EASControl for pre-2010 RRS/LR3

Updates will follow quickly till the 2010+ vehicles reach pre-2010 vehicle functionality and then development will continue simultaneously for all supported vehicles.

The functions coming in the next beta release(s) over the next few weeks:
- CCF Car Configuration File editing (daytime running lights, alarm and key functions, adding non-fitted options)
- Service interval reset, service routines, and replacement part initialization / programming (some functions available only as of the next FW release)
- Re-flashing ECU for enhancement or known problems (LR Updates- we may not be able to offer all ECUs/systems)

Please see our website for full information Link and documentation (User manuals)
Once again, the RRS 2010+ are coming but the functions for older vehicles are very similar except for the display - please see that manual http://gap-diagnostic.com/support/documents.html

One item of note: On 2010 and 2011 vehicles, the instrument cluster firmware needs to be updated for the IIDTool to function. This is done automatically upon first use (see pics below). If you would like to retain the present look of your instrument cluster, please do NOT purchase the IIDTool!(Updating the instrument cluster will not make the radio/navigation/telephone write information on the cluster the entertainment sys would also need an update. We'll explore if this is possible -it may be, tho, that the hardware has changed for the later models)

2010,2011 Left, 2012 (look after update) Right

Beta Purchasing: The price for beta units is reduced over the future retail price, betas receive updates in advance, and beta testers will receive our close support. Beta testers may receive firmware with bugs or glitches, though and may need to update the IIDTool more than once before the final firmware version is released. Please only order an IIDTool beta if you are in agreement with these conditions!

This unit is being offered in a beta version for testing at CDN$445. The price is slightly higher than previous IIDTools because of the required cluster fw update.

We are contractually bound to offer only a limited number of units for each vehicle type (our worldwide distribution partner is Britpart).

If interested, please let us know via PM or email to IIDToolBeta@GAP-Diagnostic.com .

One big issue with upgrading the instrument cluster firmware on a 2010 model RRS. The front parking aids stop working as the chime comes from the intrument pack and something in the firmware stops this working. No error codes and everything else works!

According to Microcat there is a later parking aid module and parhaps this will work with the later firmware, not sure.

Problem is that it is hard to downgrade the firmware so you are stuffed!

BEWARE!!!!

Hi Allisong,
I assume that you are not one of the IIDTool betas (the nick 'Allisong' was not in our db) - hence the 'beware' warning.

Downgrading the cluster software back to the earlier cluster sw is not a problem with the IIDTool. It takes about 2 mins to do the upgrade to the later cluster sw and 2 mins to do the downgrade back to the earlier cluster sw.

This problem only affects the 2010 and 2011 MYs and we had considered offering the IIDTool like this
originally but decided we could not put the user through the 'ordeal' of upgrading and downgrading for every IIDTool use. So the IIDTool for the 2010> RRS and D4 has bluetooth and an iOS/Android/Windows app to control and display info. For those users who don't have front PDC or are more interested in the portability of the IIDTool than any other aspects, you can still do the cluster upgrade on the 2010, 2011 models as well.

With our new 2.18 firmware, the IIDTool has a level of functionality that no other diagnostic system under £1000 has including many personalization items such as DRL's, individual Key/Unlock/close functions, etc. etc.

Just out of curiosity: what diagnostic system where you using that caused you to speak out such a dire warning, Allisong?

Hi I use the official JLR SDD system nomrally and it advised an upgrade to the cluster to the later firmware and then the park distance control did not work! Anyway since my poisting, JLR have just released a new firmware version that fixes this issue so now the new firmware does work with the PDC, so problem over. The issue is that the SDD system will not allow downgrades! For completeness here are the .vbf file releases:

ICCM : Integrated Cluster Control Module)
AH22-14C026-AK (old - does not work with PDC)
AH22-14C088-AK (old - does not work with PDC)
AH22-14C025-CB (old - does not work with PDC)

AH22-14C026-AL (new) (31-03-2013) (works fine)
AH22-14C088-AL (new) (31-03-2013) (works fine)
AH22-14C025-CC (new) (31-03-2013) (works fine)

Good to see that you are aware of this issue and if you use the very recent firmware all will be fine with IIDTool.

For info I also use Faultnmate MSV-2 for CCF file edits and no I am not one of the beta users but felt you should be aware as this cost me quite some time as I thought there was a CCF file edit issue at first.
