Oohhh it’s taken a huge weight off my shoulders!

When I went to see him at the Vets I wanted to take him out straight away. The conditions were appalling. I was so worried that I cancelled his castration in case he picked up an infection.

So, next trip out I will bring back an airlines approved shipping crate (E Bay) and all the bits and pieces that he will need whilst he is being looked after.

Then I will shuffle around my rotations and arrange to fly with KLM for a trip. Then when I leave to return to the UK I'll take him on the same plane as me, where Mrs Jim will meet me at the airport in my car, and then home to sunny Bedfordshire!

He has had his rabies jab this morning, so in 3 weeks time he has a blood sample taken. This is then sent to a lab in the EU where his antibodies against rabies are checked. They then issue the OK.

3 Months or 90 days from the date that the blood sample was initially taken he is allowed into the UK without any quarentine.

Now that I have a foster home for him to stay in, and a couple of folk in reserve who are willing to step in if needed it suddenly doesn't seem such a monumental project anymore....

Its all sounding very good Jim, good on you for sticking with him. I'm sure the photo's will follow as soon as you get Lucky home. Buy the sounds of it, his first name should be Very.

I turns out that his Mum lives in one of the expat compounds in Khobar. She sent out a call for help via e mail, and within 30 minutes I had 7 offers from people to "foster" Lucky until June, when I can bring him back to the UK!

I have also found that KLM will fly him as hold luggage back to the UK for 200 Euros.

So it looks as if a plan has come together!

Thank you to everyone who donated or gave advice. I won't forget your kindness, and you will all be invited to a party that I am holding next May (May 2014) more details will follow.
