United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Lux Stornoway Grey
Got it at last.....

Well I finally got my new toy. I picked up my 2011 Lux RRS in Stornaway grey yesterday and I'm very happy I did take the plunge. I had an eighty mile drive home, much of which was motorway. After owning a classic back in 95 I was a little apprehensive of owning another diesel as the old one was a real dinosaur. This one however is a revelation, it surprised me how quick this 2.5 tone beast gets to 70. At the moment my wife can't get near it and she can't believe that there are so many things I have to nip out and get!! It's not as quick as my 4.8is X5 but its not that far behind and with out the silly fuel consumption.
I'm a bit disappointed with the DAB radio and there seems to be more interference then the one in my van which is also DAB. It has the Logik7 which is a good sounding system if a little boomy. Overall I'm very happy with my wife's choice, the ivory and black leather work well together and look great. Now all I have to do is get the lower body mouldings painted grey to match and change the grill and vents and add a touch of red here and there. Later I think a set of 22" Vogues or maybe some Overfinch alloys if I can get a deal on them.
There seems to be an issue with the battery, if I have the radio on for more then 10 minutes with out the engine running it shuts down and the dash says battery low start engine. I've told the dealer and he's coming back to me tomorrow once he's spoken to the technicians. I remember when they were called mechanics. I have read threads about battery problems so it may need a new one but its not 2 years old yet so would be surprised if its faulty. What do you guys think?

Make sure the battery connections are good and tight. A good old fashioned charge may be in order if it has been sitting round for a while.

Welcome to the joys of LR ownership Thumbs Up Wink

Many thanks Richard for the advice. It has been sitting around at the dealers for a couple of weeks since I brought it so that may be the case. That said thought a 70 mile drive home would have done the trick.

Congratulations on the new sport, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as ive been enjoying mine... Razz

Mine is exactly the same with the battery issue, radio on for 10mins or if i set the timed climate to come on in the morning then when i get in it always comes up on the dash as battery low. I've never mentioned it to the dealer as as far as i can make out from the other threads there is nothing wrong with the battery its just that the monitoring system is a bit too sensitive Big Cry Dave.

Hi Dave thanks, the trouble with that is, if your sitting around waiting for some one and you wanna watch the tele you have to have the engine running. Not very Eco friendly not to mention the cost......

Well It died big time today with all the lights coming on and the clock spinning around. AA man came out and jump started it and said "you can't have the ignition on without starting it,will drain the battery out in no time" He checked battery and Autonator and said its all ok. I'm not convinced though. Big Cry MY 11 RRS Luxury Stornoway Grey Ivory/Black leather contrast stitching Logic7 side steps roof DVD system for the grand daughter. Mercedes SL500 for the summer. Is the battery the correct one for the vehicle? As in, is it the correct LandRover battery? These vehicles have smart charging systems in them and it has been suggested hereabouts that they are sensitive about the battery itself.

Admittedly, a 2011 vehicle shouldn't have needed a new battery but if the previous owner managed to kill the original one by being silly, then they might have fitted a cheap alternative. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The AA man is half right... just leaving the ignition in radio on mode can drain the battery.. but only after an hour or so..... certainly not 5 minutes RRS gone
