TDV8, you should get a 2008 vehicle with 50k or less miles for your budget and for that money you can get one from a main agent with an approved land Rover warranty. --------------------------------------------------------

If you don't need to worry about fuel costs then go the whole way and get a supercharged petrol! The TDV8 is great too.

You mention reliability being paramount. If that's the case don't buy a Sport at all, buy a Landcruiser. Seriously, LR products do not do "reliability is paramount". Having said that, they certainly give driving pleasure. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Really Sad i had heard a few stories about early range rovers but thought the newer models would be ok. They can't be that bad.......can they?

Put it this way, I'd never contemplate owning one without a good warranty.

I agree with Nik. Some people do, but you really shouldn't consider sharing your life with a Sport without a warranty.

You might be ok and pick up a really reliable Sport. But if you get one with a few issues then you can be looking at several hundred quid per issue... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Oh man this isn't sounding good. What sort of warranty can I expect on a 5 yr old model ? How much is it gonna cost? I would of thought that anyone who offered a warranty on a vehicle with so many problems is going to want a serious premium.

I pay £600 for a 12 month policy including wear and tear but never had to use it. Just piece of mind for me. TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx

Hi T20er,

Re warranty, if you get a vehicle under 5 years old from a LR main dealer you should get a 12 month Approved LR warranty included which in my experience is essential. Along with the warranty covering all the key parts etc it should also include LR Assistance (roadside and recovery) and provision for a hire car / replacement to keep you mobile. I think the car hire element has recently changed but it still provides a hire car for at least 48 hours to keep you moving etc.

If you get a good RRS or RR full fat, they are fantastic cars and as I've previously stated on this forum, I can't imagine driving anything else. However, they are very complex machines (perhaps over complex in some areas) and therefore a warranty is as others have mentioned crucial.

Not sure where you live in the UK but good place to start is LR website used car section, you can narrow down a search to a specific model, year, even colour so it will give you a good idea of whats out there at present.

Also check in here (dealership feedback section) as some LR dealers are better than others.

Best of luck and if you decide to go RRS I hope you get a good one! --------------------------------------------------------

Well even the Panzers go wrong and don't have the same bullet proof reputation they had in the past! --------------------------------------------------------
