We had 3" Monday so got the sport out to take youngest to do his paper round - scared the hell out of us - felt like driving a rear wheel drive car despite nearly new 20" Pirelli Scorpion M+S - no steering or brakes and even twitching on the straights with minimal power/snow setting Shocked

Last 3 winters used SWMBO FL1 for the same runs in snow and ice and drove like a dream Thumbs Up

Last 2 winters RRS had 19" Wrangler M+S with no complaints either Sad

Can't wait for it to melt - the RRS is staying in the garage until it does Evil or Very Mad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry although on standard 20 inch conti tyres. Last year my partners Rav4 was amazing in the white stuff. Just pointed it and it went. It has much less weight which was noticeable. TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx

BC - apart form the tyres which I thought were sorted when I got rid of the Crapinentals I had started to feel the love again with everything else sorted - it is a great vehicle when it works Bow down

Ady - I have had plenty of practice in a Landcruiser and 6 LR's over the last 14 years in snow and ice but always felt in control until this week so in this case I have to blame the tools (tyres) Rolling Eyes

Now pricing 19" winter tyres/alloys and wishing I had kept the 19" wranglers/alloys I sold last year Evil or Very Mad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I meant practice on the tyres you have on and test the limits in a safe environment, at the same time have a play. Thumbs Up

Thats what I thought when I spent £1000 replacing the contis with scorpions recently but would of been better keeping the summer tyres and 19" wrangler M+S I used last 2 winters Big Cry Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Just remember its 4 wheel DRIVE - you'll certainly get more traction to get you going or keep you going.

But take note you still only have two wheel steering and all cars have 4wheel braking so when it comes to stopping or cornering you have no advantage - plus you've more than a couple of tonnes of momentum to control!!

I hate the snow. Crying or Very sad

Yes I have a great car and every confidence in what I'm doing, knowing my limits.

It's the other idiots that annoy me and when they lose it they tend to be heading towards me in a state of panic. Evil or Very Mad

At the risk of sounding daft, how do the RRS's fare in the snow on normal road tyres?

This is my first big 4x4 so its still new to me. Had my impreza out in the snow in the past and needless to say that was bags of fun Laughing Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi
