I have a Western Digital Live tv hub, and would recommend it Very Happy streaming hd mkv's from a 2tb nas box in the loft....

I also use xbmc on a laptop in the kids room for their movies and have always loved it, i still have a chipped xbox running the original version Thumbs Up

Ive tried several others, boxee was good software, based on xbmc engine and worked great but they've withdrawn the pc software in favour of their hardware platform Big Cry Why?.. Because i can....

now you have lost me with this talk of western boxes and hubs Laughing

I downloaded XBMC to my mac mini, which runs itunes and i can stream my itunes movies to my Apple TV in the other room using itunes, (i will have to look in to jailbreaking that at a later date)

But as a stand alone TV, i wanted to get this up and running, I had to google to find out how to get the movies working on it and found a program via xmbchub and got the plug in and watched a couple of movies last night, in HD and there were just as good quality as my apple TV, but i don't think it broadcasts the sound in 5.1 dolby though

The WD live tv hub is a box similar to the apple tv box as follows, costs around £180 :

http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=570

It has a 1 tb harrdrive inside and also has network connections for internet streaming etc. You can get a wireless adapter for it or connect with a standard ethernet cable to your internet router. I also have harddrive storage plugged into my router with a collection of 50 plus HD movies on, and I stream from this harddrive storage all my movies the the box Smile

I get full DTS surround sound from this unit and I have yet to find a movie it doesnt play Wink

I also a basic no harddrive WD Live boxe I use to stream to one of the bedrooms the same movies and music Smile

I seriously have though about getting a WD live tv hub box and installing in the RRS Wink Why?.. Because i can....

Cheers, might have a look at something similar in time, Thumbs Up

trying out XBMC tonight, its been a little hit and miss, freezing and low quality, buffering issues, half way through watching Madagascar 3 with the kids it crashed and kept coming up with cache full error Rolling Eyes

I'm having issues with my broadband dropping down on an evening from 78mbps to about 11mbs, so not sure if its related

I'm with BT Evil or Very Mad

I have a higher level complaint in at the moment, openreach have stated that my line is perfect, I couldn't be closer to the cabinet in my street, well I could if I live in the opposite house Laughing

I think BT themselves have oversold the product and until the powers that be upgrade the exchange they can't cope with the capacity Big Cry
