Transfer Box/ Torque Converter/ Clutch??? | |
I've done a search on here regards the above and couldn't find anything relevant. Basically, a friend’s RRS SC has had a transmission melt down...
Initially, the dash lit up like the proverbial Christmas Tree. The fault codes (sorry don’t have them) all pointed towards the Clutch Actuator and Transmission Control Module.
The garage removed the TCM and found it completely burnt out, something that allegedly occurred fairly often due to water ingress. As such replacement TCM ordered and installed. This cleared all error codes apart from the one related to the Clutch Actuator and said couldn't programme the TCM.
The car was taken to a LR Dealer, for programming/ calibration, who said the TCM is self-programming and there’s another problem. They spent 3 days poring over the car and said it’s an internal error and the transfer box needs replacing at between GBP3,000-5,000
Anyway, our garage collected the vehicle and took the Clutch Actuator apart and found that a ‘lever’ had rotated and jammed against the housing meaning it couldn’t move. This was fixed and the part reinstalled.
Diagnostics hooked up and now saying it can’t calibrate because the ‘clutch’ isn’t within the operating parameters… So now they’re dropping the transmission to have a look inside.
And finally the question, does this all make sense and if so can this be resolved with an ‘overhaul kit’ for the torque converter?? What can my friend expect?
Sorry for the long post trying to give as much history/ information as possible… oh and on that note my friends car is a 2007 RRS SC, Middle East spec.
Thanks in advance.
