Leeds Council have been emailed and i will be claiming for the replacement from them.

Not so much a pot hole as a crater........

Sorry to hear that, terrible luck.

Taking on the Council will be a pain though I reckon - a few years ago I drove into a pothole similar to that in your picture on a road that had no streetlights and at night. When I had the tyre replaced the local Tyre chap said mine was the 3rd car to need a new tyre from that pothole that week!

I contacted the Council and made my complaint and claim. I got a standard 'we're sorry but tough' response and so asked them to provide evidence that they were taking due care to maintain the road and 4 weeks later got a legal letter containing a document showing their annual repair routine!

In the end I gave up. I have heard of people being more persistent and winning but it isn't common. Current car: Porsche 911 Carrera S PDK (997.2) Past Car: (MY12) Range Rover Sport HSE SDV6 - Orkney Grey with Almond interior

A few years ago I hit a pothole that bent the rim. The hole was 100mm deep and the tyre's sidewall was less than that. One of the "joys" of low profile tyres I suppose...

As the car only had a can of foam instead of a spare, I had to drive home on it (luckily not too far) and ordered a replacement rim from the dealer.

The damaged wheel was donated to a friend. He melts them down in his back garden and casts replacement non-structural parts for old Rolls Royces. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
