When did you go on the trip?

Only reason is I'm taking the RRS through Europe next Friday 21st December and was wondering about the road conditions you encountered.

I will be travelling through France, Germany and Poland into Ukraine. I've got some Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow tyres that are going on this week. Can't see there being any issues but will try and take some photos all being well!

Drove uk to Tuscany and back in 2004 in a D2 - fantastic trip and worse part was getting from Yorkshire to Chunnel as usual Cool

Took 3 days to do trip with young kids back then but local Italian restaurant owner here did Yorkshire to Sicily non stop in 24 hours when his father was ill Shocked

Have driven down to south of France too - would rather drive than fly but swmbo hates driving even though she sleeps most of the way and never shares the driving Rolling Eyes

Would like to drive down to algarve next in RRS but she keeps saying no Big Cry Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

hello muddy,
it`s easy to drive alone in the car and pick up the Mrs and the kids at the airport in Portugal. Laughing Thumbs Up
Years ago I drove to Turkey and picked up my wife and my young daughter in Izmir/airport and after the holiday I stopped at the airport again.

Only once I drove the RRS through the Alps and never since and I go 2 times every year from UK to Italy and back.

More confortable by a saloon car specially when you pass the high mountains.

This is me, sorry if I upset some other RRS lovers.

Thumbs Up /|\

I've done Rotterdam to Lviv in Ukraine in 19 hours driving time. It worked out total of 23hrs total travel time with stops for toilet breaks, coffee etc. Distance was 1022 miles and I did all the driving myself as at the time my Mrs couldn't drive!

I've done that journey twice in a RR P38 4.0V8 once in a 2.5 Gsi vectra and the wife's 320d BMW. The best car was the Range Rover, closely followed by the BMW. All these were in summer time.

I've only ever been to eastern europe in winter by plane and know how cold it gets but never been in a vehicle, hence making sure I've got the right kit, tyres, serviced, shovel, tow rope etc just in case

Should be a good trip!

Iam in Italy with mine now, there is no better car to do the journey in, may be a Porsche Turbo for the autobahns. Wink SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.
