United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Trouble Free Motoring ????

Had the car in the garage for two weeks a month ago for various bits and pieces.

Got it back and then two weeks later, red suspension light on !!!

Car is still in the garage - another two weeks.

At first they thought ARC bars, then just a burst pipe, now the hydraulic pump.

Seems like it is just one thing after another.

I've only had the car 7 months

I've never had this many problems with the rest of the cars I've had put together.

I'm interested to see if anyone has had a full 12 months of trouble free motoring or is it just my bad luck hence the poll Question 2009 3.6 TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Lux Orkney Grey

Unfortunately my story is similar to yours.

My 2009 TDV8 required rear ARC and rear suspension bellows just before I took delivery. With two weeks it needed a front height sensor and a few days later a compressor.

A week or so later a rattle turned out to be a loose battery clamp. It had got the wrong battery and during the course of changing it the fault codes said the alternator was also duff.

Under Land Rover's Used Car scheme I regected the car. Three months later the dealer still had not found a replacement. Then a TDV6 was offerred but the advertised 'Full Service' history was not supported by the paperwork and it had a high pitched whine from the engine/turbos.

A week or so later a 2010 TDV8 came up it was also advertised as 'Full' Service history; but two weeks on and I still haven't been able to see the records.

Dealer now thinks I'm the "customer from hell" and has suggested the 'cleanest' solution is for them to buy my car back; that's fine but I'd still not have a TDV8 which is what I wanted before this saga started !!

There should be some other guys along with a better experience.

In the last 18 months, mine has had an alternator, battery, starter motor, rear dynamic anti roll bar, front anti roll bar bushes. The starter motor needs to be replaced again and it's using coolant too which probably won't be good.

Luckily it's covered by warranty.

The Sport is the best car I've ever had but also the worst. I'm seriously considering getting rid of it and getting something like a Touareg instead. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Had my sport from new, in its first year it spent four months in total in garage. Turbos, diff, the knock, dashboard peeling, the list goes on. Like many on here it is a love hate relationship with car and dealer. Got to point where I had my own personal loan car but after five years I still have it and won't be parting in near future. There really is nothing out there that compares. Even Fullfat isn't a patch although it has more storage and toys. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

well I had a rrs tdv8 for 3.5 yerars and did 62k miles
it went into limp mode within the 1st 100 miles , flash of ecu sorted that, split a turbo hose at 50k and recently needed fdron and rear ARBs done.
Other than that servicing and diesel...great car

do remember that forums are naturally biased to people who have problems.. there's no real need to post just to say "I've had another trouble free month" Laughing

my first (57 plate) TDV8 was very reliable, towards the end of 2 years ownership some bits did start to fail (all covered by warranty, and none left me stranded) - thermostat, steering column, starter motor, rear boot mechanism. But never any major things, apart from the one time a cash wash blokey got a bit too enthusiastic cleaning the engine and the dashboard lit up like a fireworks display (long motorway run soon dried her out).

the 10 plate TDV8 I then picked up had nothing go wrong with her for 18 months (adding about 18,000 miles) and was absolutely delightful to own.

Thumbs Up ============
2010 TDV8 HSE - ooo laa laaaaaaaaa
2007 TDV8 HSE - superb car and very reliable
============
2012 - dearly departed, sadly missed.. to return in late 2013 with a new TDV8!

Had mine for just over a year now.
Had to get the 4 wheel alignment sorted, but that was something that should have been done at the factory/dealer, not a 'failure' as such - no big deal.

Almost a year to the day, it developed a turbo fault, which turned out to be a loose pipe clamp, so again, nothing particularly troublesome.

So, I suppose I could tick the trouble free for a year as neither of the above were serious (even if the later did take them 3 days to find the cause Laughing )

....and as rrsboy said, the site will be naturally biased towards people that have had 'issues' Wink ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Had mine for just over 2 months from new.

It's been in the garage for the last two weeks with the dealer being unable to find out why it's pulling to the left. )And a host of other minor things)

This is the most bizarre car owning experience i've had to date! Laughing , but i like them so i'm looking on the bright side Very Happy Very Happy

Cheney, I remember you said you had it done, but did the garage do your 4 wheel alignment, or did an independent specialist do it ? ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I am now talking to LR Customer service but the dealer have attempted to do it themselves but have now resorted to a specialist (apparently on a number of occasions), still to no avail Question

LR are now going to send someone to have a look at it. Owner of MY13 RRS Red Edition, Santorini Black, Ebony with Lunar, Privacy Glass & Exterior Design Pack
