Cambelt Change

lo all,

My cambelt is due for change.....

Does anyone know a good place to take around Derby/Nottingham area?

Or is it definately a dealer job?

Definately not a main stealer job, do a search for an indi in your area or wait for one of the members on to comment with recommendations in your area. Wink

I had the main dealer quote me for this work, just out of curiosity.

Their price for cambelts alone including VAT was £548-47 or for those plus minor service £750 incl VAT.

It was Farnells at Bradford that quoted me.

I'm not sure whether it's reasonable or not, given it's a main dealer.

£548 doesn't seem that bad to me. At £100/hr and including VAT, the belt and new tensioner, that's about 3-3.5 hours work.

A random web search threw up http://www.iawaclassicsand4x4.co.uk/Range-Rover-Sport.php who quote £450 all in (including tensioners). So £100 premium for having LR do the work. Seems about right.

The question is, are you happy paying the premium...? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

£450 is still pretty expensive. You could easily knock another £100 off that, if you shop around Thumbs Up

So add £200 for diesel to visit the frozen hinterlands north of The Wall and the price is the same as having it done down here by a stealer... Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

had mine done at dealers and they said there was a offer on . I had the cambelts swapped and oil and minor service for £599 all in if that helps

Yes I have managed to do a deal with the dealers at Nottingham.

They are going to swap both belts, one at the front and one at the rear of the engine and also do a full service for £599 which I thought was a good deal so it is booked in on Thursday.

Do the dealer do software updates during the servicing?

No I asked the same question and was quoted £105 plus vat for all the software upgrades that might need doing 2008 range rover sport FANTOM styling
