2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black
New Member - Question Re: Dog Guard

Hi All,

I've been reading this board for a while and hopefully get my Santorini Black 3.0TDV6 next week....

It's brand new with Ebony leather with ivory contrast stitch, privacy glass, grand black lacquer trim.

I've had sports cars all my life (997 GT3 Gen 2 was my last car) but with our first baby due in June I needed something bigger for a while....

A friend of a friend has given me a dog guard and the part number is VUB 502080.

Will this fit?

Also it is just the guard, I don't have any fixings? What do I need and where can I get some?

Thanks! Mr. Green

First and foremost, welcome Thumbs Up

The part number for the 2011 is the same so yes I'd imagine it will fit. For the fixings try a Land Rover dealer as I doubt they'd be that expensive. They would supply everything you need to put it up so you wouldn't need to go elsewhere.

I hummed and hahed over whether to get a dog guard for mine, but I thought why get a nice quiet car and have a guard rattling away in the back as with previous cars, also wanted a clear view out the back, so I just use a cage( mid sized one) when taking the dog out for a spin. This also stops him putting his mucky paws over the side trim !
I tie it down to the anchor points on the boot floor.
It is fine for one dog but if you have more then obviously the guard is best

Cage no good sorry, dog is over 7 stone and can stand on my shoulders - won't/can't fit in a cage!

Do the dog guards rattle? If so it ain't going in, I can't stand rattles!

My dog has never tried to get over the seats, I just thought the dog guards would stop her drooling over the baby on the back seat or over the seats themselves.

Hadn't thought of the rear view, hmmm might leave it out and see how I get on.....

Shocked

i think you are mistaking your donkey for a dog Wink but the other consideration is if you have god forbid an accident, then at least you have a form of barrier (not sure how the guard would stand up to 7 stone of canine) between little one and pooch.

I have a LR guard in mine and there is no rattle. Exactly same reason as you for fitting. They're too big to get over seat but can stick there head over and drool on or lick baby. If you get stuck I can picture the bits you need. As already said I would try a dealer for the parts Thumbs Up

I have a transk9 dog cage which fits perfectly and is excellent for our 2 wheaten terriers (each 20kg). Check them out: http://www.transk9.com/index.php/dog_cage/range_rover_sport_2004/

Keeps the interior of the rear space absolutely spotless and is much more secure than a dog guard in the event of an accident. RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE 2012 Santorini Black

Pyrenean mountain dog!

Hadn't thought of the safety angle but would the guard do much? Doesn't seem that substantial but I suppose it better than nothing...

The LR dog guard I have is a fairly solid affair, it is bolted to the car and braced against the C pillar, it will take a fair bit to move it. Oh and it dosn't rattle Smile

Talk about using a sledgehammer to crack a nut! , I would just stick it in the wife's handbag in the front!! Laughing
To be honest our cocker is only in my car once a fortnight, so a fitted guard would be overkill.
My previous guard in the impreza was a solid affair, but every time I went over a bump which was quite often up here, it made a right racket!!
Cheers

Got the guard as a cargo barrier to stop "stuff" visiting me while off road

I bought this one..

http://www.travall.co.uk/dividers/land_rov...1/tdg1199d

No rattles or squeaks and has the very useful feature of dividing the boot, very useful for keeping the hound off the shopping, luggage etc. The dog section has ample space, we have a ten stone English Mastiff and she has bags of space to lay down.
