I think all new sports now come with M&S tyres on in the UK, so no its not a problem to run them all year round. But it might of been better posted in the Wheels & Tyres section. |

Wheels & Tyres is still a fairly new topic for the forum, and yes you are correct, a lot of members do post in the General section but then if the mods find it inappropriate then they will move it to the correct section. |

My Volvo XC70 ran Pirelli Scorpion M&S all year round, in fact only tyre I ever put on in 8 years of ownership so far. Its probably fair to say the XC70 is not a "sports" variant but a chipped D5 (320 ft/lb) had it pulling out of corners. The best part was the fact that as long as 4WD tracking done every so often, they last 40K+ miles! Sure, 1800kg vs 2700 kg but no faffing about when it came to slush/snow/ice or a bit of gentle off-roading. Did I notice the difference over a sports tyre? No but then the XC isn't a sports car and neither is the RRS. |

You can run 'Summer' tyres in summer but not below 7 C; then you need 'Winter' tyres. But, unless you want the hassle, M&S tyres are "all weather' tyres which means they have good all-round performance especially in the wet !! and let's face it we getthat all year!

Having had 6 LR's with m&s tyres fitted from new and driven all year round on them with no problems for 10 years I was shocked to discover my current RRS had summer tyres when I bought it - now converted to m&s and awaiting some snow

I can tell for sure the difference between summer and M+S tires. When running ms tires in the spring the grip especially on the corners is not as good. I can feel it and hear it, no doubt about it. Sop I do switch to summer tires for the rest of the year. I use verdestein (might get the name wrong). Vadim A. |

To be honest that's just a quality of the tyre...the Pirelli m&s on the sport are much better than the good years previously fitted Mike

I read a reports while back on summer v winter tyres, and the thing which surprised me was how much longer braking distances were when running M & S tyres during summer. I think the main reason is that it is a different rubber compound that doesn't fair to well in the heat, and thus also affects lateral G forces as well. I'm glad I have both sets, and will be swapping over next week now that temperatures are starting to drop. |

I"d be very surprised if LR were fitting summer tyres to any motors My guess is that they are all weather tyres. |
