Horses for courses. Take any Land Rover on a step slippy hill with standard road tyres and not use the low ration gear box and it will perform no better than most road biased 4x4s. If like some of you guys I wonted serious off road ability, then the RRS would be parked in my drive, however seeing as I live in a part of the country that can see lots of snow in winter and also spend a couple of weeks a year in the French Alps, the X5 is more than capable of handling these conditions. The ability to drive off road is a skill full one, and often in the right hands a lesser vehicle can leave that of a LL in the wrong hands stranded.
