DAY 2

DAY 2

So to start with here is a picture after we de badged the boot and removed the old tape from the number plate:

As you can imagine silver is the hardest car to photograph swirl marks and rids, so here is a picture of the general condition of the paint close up:

As you can see its not that bad and mainly made up of rids as oppose to swirl marks. So the first thing to do was remove all the bird lime defects. There were 6 over the car in total and this was removed using the carpro denim orange peel removal pads and megs 105.

The rest of the car is being corrected with megs 105 and a LC CCS orange pad. Here is some various shots of the paint after correction:

I then stopped the machine polishing for a little while to helping my brother with removing the wheels and painting the hubs and calipers. Once the first wheel was off I went back to the wash bay, game the wheels a chemical bath with iron x, washed them and degreased the tyre with megs APC. They were then brought back inside and dried with the warm air blower. They were then treated for tar, given a thorough IPA wipedown, treated to dodo juice lime prime as a pre wax cleaner and give a coat of swissvax autobahn.

While the wheel wax cured we prepped the hubs and calipers and primed them:

After a long debate between me and my brother, we opted for this very random blue/silver grey. This sounds very random, but as you will see looks great against the grey/silver colour coding.

They were then lacquered, wax residue wiped off the wheel, placed back on the hub and dodo juice tyromania was applied.

So for a comparison this is the passenger front side.

Tomorrow will bring some more paint correction as well as 2 more hubs, calipers and wheel off protection. Till then!

Cheers

Mike Always clean.

If the facelift grill fits a prefacelift car, then how about the facelift led lights? Do you have to change the bumpers and so on?
What I am thinking on my RRS is HST front with facelift lights. Is that possible? 91 BMW 850CSI

No its not possible without changing the lights wings and front bumper. The facelift grill is not a genuine L/R product, its a replica facelift grill to fit the 05 to 09 model. Thumbs Up

DAY 3

DAY 3

Today was more of the same as this is now midway through. So was focussed on more correction, two sets of calipers and hubs and two wheels remove, cleaned and protected as before.

Heres some correction shots:

Behind the rear number plate was some nasty scratches:

These had to be flattened and polish so a quite reading to make sure there was enough lacquer and it was time to get it fixed:

While i was here, I noticed the boot release button had gone completely white/grey. So G-techniq C4 was used to fix the problem, after a thorough ipa wipedown:

Not to bad for a 2007 rear bumper strip:)

and finally some swirls I could catch on camera. The rear lights were looking dull and this is why! So these were remove too.

So boot scratches removed, boot release button restored and swirls removed from the rear lights.

Some photos of the wheels being decontaminated with iron x.

Some photo's of the rear wheel back on, protected and hugging the freshley painted rear caliper:)

Thats all for today, tomorrow will see the completion of the exterior including refining, first coat of wax, rear tail pipes porperly cleaned and protected and the engine bay protected.

These are the wheels that are on the car, but have been painted in a satin finish. Am tempted to pint them like this to go with the silver and matte grey contrast the sport will have. What do you think?

Cheers Mike
