Run flat tyres.

Gents I seek an opinion please.
Its tyre replacement time. Delivery was with Pirelli Scorpion. There all right but prefer Good Year Wrangler AW. Found them excellent all-rounder’s on the previous RRS..
Tyre dealer (who will remain nameless for the moment) suggested I fit the run flat option available for the tyre since I don’t have a full size spare. I thought run flat tyres needed a different suspension set up.
Help please.
I’ve put the fitting on hold for the moment.

Run flats don't need a change in suspension.

Personally I would stick with Pirelli - I've found them much better than the Goodyear and happy that these are m+s Mike

In my experience of run flats they provide a very firm/harsh ride due to the reinforced side walls.
Personnally I prefer regular tyres.

I think run flat tyres can't be repaired if you get a puncture. Be worth checking before buying them. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Don't go down the run flat road had them on my X5 very very hard ride, one option that I'm considering is there are some good firms specializing in puncture safe a new kind of tyre weld that fills the hole in the tyre while on the move, don't confuse it with the cheap rubbish you can buy from you local DIY store and i doesnt damage your tyres like the early stuff. Do a search on google

Having recently gone from Goodyear Excellence to Pirelli Scorpion, I would say Pirelli all the way, very, very good tyre Wink RRS 2010

I concur with all these comments - Ive had run flats on a BM and on a MINI. They ruin an acceptable ride in my view due to the sidewall construction and as others have said I don't think they can be repaired.

Our present MINi has ordinary tyres, no spare just a repair kit. I certainly wouldn't have them on another car again. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy
