Removing privacy glass? (First post)

Hi all, first post! And it's probably a bit of an odd one...

I'm looking at a TDV8 as my first RRS in the right colour and trim combination for me, one owner, FLRSH etc. The only issue with it - personally, I know plenty of you will like it - is the privacy glass. How hard i.e. expensive would it be to swap the glass out do you think? Is it something others have done?

Any advice appreciated,

Will

Will if it's after market it'll be easy, but factory forget it will cost a fortune. Thumbs Up

Welcome to the mad house.

after market = just peel it off

factory fit = have to change the glass itself ============

If its Factory fit, find someone to swap the clear glass with.

What year is the RRS you are looking at?

Thanks all - for the welcome and advices. Swapping the glass is something I've wondered about as it is factory-fit. The car's on an '07 plate so guess there's quite a lot around.

I'll keep looking and post some more questions in due course!

Thanks,

Will

Sounds like a real faff on swapping glass assuming you can find an owner that wants to swap.
Someone without tints who wants tints is more likely to go to a window tinting firm rather than swapping glass.
Realistically you'll have to learn to love your tints or look for another car.

p.s. I favour tints, a sport looks bare without them Whistle 2015 Golf R DSG

Yup, a swap with an opposite opinioned RRS owner would be the best bet Smile ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

IMHO the factory tint is the best looking and if I had film I would definatly consider a swap so there must be someone out there thinks the same way Bow down

If you can find someone with the same colour you could swap doors and upper tailgate then only need to remove boot sidelights which would keep the cost down Whistle Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Look no further...I've got clear all round and am not bothered if it's tinted or not so if you want to swap then let me know...assuming the glass isn't bonded in anywhere and it's not going to damage it. Thumbs Up

PS Mine is a 2006 tdv6 model - don't know if there's anything different between them??
