CarPro Orange Peel Remover Pads

Hi guys

Carpro sent me these new orange peel remover polishing pads with twice the rate of cut to your typical wool pads. So I borrowed a F150 Lightning bonnet from my bodyshop to try this new pad out. These are not designed for your normal everyday swirl removal but are fantastic if you have any pretty deep defects in your Range Rover paint. RRSport paint can by tough at times as well as sticky. So you want something that cuts but keeps the heat write down. This pads are vented so draw near to none heat.
I purposly washed this bonnet with 0 grade wire wool as there wasnt much in the way of orange peel, so we needed some heavy defects. This was the bonnet after I had washed it with 0 grade wire wool, clayed it to remove any pollen or tree sap that the pad might pick up. ( you dont want this as the polishing pad will pick it up and will drag it around the paint creating scratches as oppose to removing them) I then gave the bonnet a full ipa wipedown so it was silicone free and was left with its true finish. This is it Surprised

I then proceeded in using the carpro orange peel remover pad with meguairs 105 heavy compound cut. After 5 passes in one set it pretty much took out all of the deep wire wool scratches! I also took ptg reasons throughout to note down how much lacquer was being remove and was only around 3-5micron mark. Not bad for such deep scratches. The pad did re produce pigtailing, so i polished the bonnet with an orange LC CCS pad with megs 105 and refine with ultrafina on a blue pad. This removed any left over hologramming from the compounding. So in the end this was what I was left with after a full ipa wipedown. As you can see pretty impressive results:

A close upt o show how severe these scratches were:

In this shot I have leaned it up against the little pug to show you the reflective difference.

So if any of you guys think you may need to repaint parts of your range rover beacause its dull, this maybe your solution. The pad is Carpro orange peel remover pad and it is the denim one (2000 grit) So acts like wet and dry at 2000 but polishes at the same time, effectively removing of polishing after wet sanding.

Hope this helps you as it did in my find.

Cheers

Mike Always clean.

I would say you really need a PTG or risk burning through the lacquer as this sounds quite an aggressive compound Question

Hi guys

Sorry have been very busy with work at the moment.

Not to sure at the moment as car pro sent them direct, but I do know www.elitecarcare.co.uk will be selling them shortly.

Yes it is very important to take paint readings throughtout, so a ptg is a muct have when using these pads.

This placed this post to show you that you can even remove defects as deep as these and permanantly without the need to repaint. In fact with them being able to remove light orange peel, you will get a far better finish then you would with a respray. Always clean.
