Thanks, I don't think the previous owner has fitted them as it doesn't come with a tow ball, Are the electrics hard to fit or are they plug and play? |

You need to check behind the towing cover in the rear bumper. Mine didn't have the tow ball (I guess he kept it for his next one) but the electrics were fitted. Tow balls can be had reasonably cheaply from the usual suspects... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I purchased the electrics from a Land Rover Specialist and they told me they would 100% not work without activation, they wanted to charge £50 + VAT for activation!! So glad i never paid it as low and behold they work perfectly!! They also wanted £150 to fit them! I fitted them in an hour!....Fairplay some dealers / specialists do try it on! |

The electrics on a 2008 require more removal than a 2013MY car (the later cars its a connector behind the bumper, earlier cars you have to go further into the car behind the trim)

Earlier cars will work no problem just by connecting the electrics. If you enable them, then it will stop the car automatically going into off road height if you select the relevant terrain response setting and have something connected. Fo almost all owners it will make no difference to your use. Bodsys Brake Bible

I may have spoke to soon, I have just realised my reversing sensors don't work now! I get a long beep from the rear and the LED on the button just flashes, Could this be that the car needs telling that a tow bar is fitted? |

The reverse sensors only disable when towing if the software updated - alternative is to manually disable "P" button (rh side next to Hazard warning on mine) when you are hitched and reversing like I used to on the FL1

I might take the boot side trim off and disconnect the tow bar electrics and see if the sensors work again as it might be something in the wiring making the sensors not work |
