it looks a lot smaller doesn't it, almost like a new style Sport. I wonder what their thinking is? ============

Thinking about the thread elsewhere asking if the RR brand is dead. Yes, is the answer - it's died and been replaced by a full bling jewellery box. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I tailed a disguised one for several miles, it looks just like a Sport in size. I don't know why people think it's big. It's a really odd decision IMO. ============

Basically it allows them to drop 500kg to reduce emissions across the range, I believe there are fines/incentives from the government, but like windfarms, are pretty useless and cost the taxpayer a fortune! Cheers Dave MY10 TDV6 SE (debadged ), Santorini Black, Flappy paddles, Privacy Glass, 20" Stormers, Mudflaps! Gone: a comprehensive list of imprezas and a Merc ML AMG |

They're not important, not even a little bit. In fact they're pretty pointless but lots of people consider them pretty and thus not pointless. All about form being more important than function. Which, in a functional vehicle, seems to miss the point. In other words "it's all about the bling, innit" Footballers, WAGs (especially the Beckham woman) and Chelsea Tractors come to mind... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

Whilst that's undoubtedly true (the weight loss bit anyway), it doesn't have any impact on the styling. The styling seems to me to be aimed at the Asian market which, of course, is where the money is these days. Oh, and LR's owners are there too. LR is no longer a western brand and so will be tailored to eastern tastes. Of course, lots of wealthy Brits and septics will buy them merely for the name, but the imperious "I'm in charge, be gone from my sight" of the Rangies of old has been lost. The Rangie is now a full-on 4x4 limo. I doubt many will see grass beneath their wheels, even less so real mud. If LR bring out the Defender in the form recently previewed, then we can safely say that LR no longer makes off roaders, it makes overweight cars with 4WD. And they will all sell in their tens of thousands... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |
