Currently looking to change from E92 M3 to a RRS TDV8

Hi,

I am new to looking for a Range Rover Sport. I found a nice car in Stornaway Grey with Ivory leather with all the options but its only a 2.7 TDV6. After driving a 2.7 I found it painfully slow, Is the TDV8 any better as I am yet to drive one?

I know the Range is no sports car but have driven an X5 35d and would hope the TDV8 is a closer comparison to this performance wise. I would also chip the TDV8, are there any guys on here that have TDV8's that are chipped?

Hopefully i will be able to get slightly better fuel consumption with the Range as opposed to the M3 too lol!

Thanks in advance

Lee

Hi Lee
I used to have a chipped TDV8 and also test drove the X5 Msport before I got it, the RRS sounded much nicer with it's V8 engine and felt 'special'.
The X5 certainly went round corners faster but in the end it just didn't do it for me, I'm certainly glad I went down that route at the time.

I actually sold my RRS to a guy that moved from an M3 and he certainly enjoyed his ownership for the year that he had it.

Hope this helps, a chipped V8 is a totally different car to a V6!!!

Thanks Daz, I know what you mean about the range feeling more special to the X5.

Do you know why the guy you sold to only kept it a year?

I don't remember why Marcus sold the sport, I know he went sporty again with a GTR I think.

Sounds like the only thing that will be cheaper compared to the M3 will be insurance then Sad

i have road tested quite a few 2.7 and then bough a chipped tdv8 which is defo the right route to go down, i get 32 mpg on a long run and about 23 round town which aint bad for the power, i also had an m3 last year and i know they are Censored on fuel when you get your foot down so running cost wont be as bad, my tax was only £118 for 6 months

32mpg and 23mpg is good, did you have the E92? I can only get 22mpg with a very steady right foot and 50mph everywhere Sad

How come your tax is so cheap? I thought the TDV8 was in the top tax bracket as the M3 is??

TDV8 is an awesome machine even when standard. Try one you might feel you don't need to have it mapped. I have one and love it...but saying that I've just committed to having it mapped by Alive Tuning Cool
