I have done updates in Italy before, but I don't have any current plans to come over.

If you can arrange enough interest in your area, it is always possible to do.

Hi Bodsy, can you tell me if your Bluetooth update unit will improve the general quality of a call rather than fix any actual fault. Hi Rigsby, just caught up with this and also noticed your other thread.

I'd have to ask what volume the phone is set to when on a call. I find that anything above 15 and the quality starts to deteriorate.
Does it recognise normal voice recognition commands in his car?

Its possible that the microphone wires are dodgy (relatively common) so you may need to change replace the two wires that go up to the microphone from the back of the radio unit.

I have swap units here, but of course if your mates unit is actually faulty, I'd have to charge for a new replacement unit. They're £200+vat from LR.

I could do a software update on his to see if that fixes the problem, so he gets his own unit back.

It could also be that the ECU's are confused amongst themselves, whilst unlikely to cause this issue, there would be no harm in doing a hard reset. (it's free!)

Disconnect the battery terminals and short them together (not on the battery!) for 20 seconds. Then see what happens when he next makes a call.
