Would worry me a little, but could be pre reg car thats simply been sold a few times. depends on the age really but id probably do a bit more checking over the car prior to purchase if i did go ahead. |

I'd be concerned if a car had gone through more owners than age in years...

7 owners on a 57 plate is 3-4 too many in my opinion. |

does different names = different owners? i.e. when you ask DVLA to change registered keepers name, but say, keep the same address - does that count as a sale/owner? ============ 2010 TDV8 HSE - ooo laa laaaaaaaaa 2007 TDV8 HSE - superb car and very reliable ============ 2012 - dearly departed, sadly missed.. to return in late 2013 with a new TDV8! |

I'm not sure how it stands with the 7 owners or how to find out Dvla won't hand that info out will they log book will only say previous owner it's all very of putting to me and the wife is the same think when it came to resale no one would be interested in a car with 8 pre owners and would 8 people have cherished and looked after a car like the bloke who bought it new and had it 5 years |

Depends really. A car with two owners might look like a better bet than one with 4 owners, but if both had one bad owner in their history then they could be as bad/good as each other under the skin. If a car is owned by someone who can't really afford it (and we see people in here asking about how to get cheap RRS because they can't really afford one) then it's unlikely to have been looked after. Shiny wheels and paintwork at the time of sale just shows that they can clean it - but the oily bits are what is important here, not the paintwork. A big pile of paperwork showing that work had been done when required is as good an indication as one can hope for really.

Agree completely with RRSTDV8 - buying a second hand car is a gamble. I bought mine from a small dealer and we had some early niggles on it, but I've sorted them and now enjoying it.

I should probably rephrase.. if husband changes registered keeper to wife, without money changing hands or address changing - does that count as a new owner? ============ 2010 TDV8 HSE - ooo laa laaaaaaaaa 2007 TDV8 HSE - superb car and very reliable ============ 2012 - dearly departed, sadly missed.. to return in late 2013 with a new TDV8! |
