Another newbie question...

Side steps: -

    useful vs waste of time?
value for money or way too expensive?
Dealer fit or supply/fit by somebody else?

Everyone will have an opinion........here's mine Wink
In Land Rover OEM form, I think they are WAY over priced.

In non-OEM form they are a reasonable proposition, whether they are that practical........not so sure.

At the end of the day, your car, your choice, you could always buy them, stick them on and if you don't like them after a while sell them on, there will always be a market for a well looked after set Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Buy an oem set on ebay or similar and fit them yourself, I rarely use them but they make the car look a 100 times better and handy for the kids and the mrs getting in and out.

Seems to be more about form than function and personal taste.

The reason behind the question is that Mrs DoB is a tad vertically challenged (but beautifully formed, of course) and any effective assistance boarding or alighting would be of benefit (in the absence of a step ladder, mounting block or other similar apparatus).

From what I have seen, they don't appear wide enough for a gent's size 10s but would probably be ok for a lady's size 4.

My question made the presumption that the side steps are substantive and not for show only, so can actually be used for a leg up/down, but would not be an obstruction for me to step across - is this correct?

.....not seen them in the 'flesh' hence my very basic questions - please put up with me, I do learn (eventually)

Hi
They are actually better than they look, as from outside no reat stey as door bottom covers them up, but with door open I would say a decent step Thumbs Up Paul

Re: Another newbie question...

Useful for the wife and kids, they always step on them to get in and out.
In my case not expensive as dealer supplied and fitted them for free to seal the deal so to speak.
For my taste the sport needs them for looks too.

An rrs with no tints and steps looks bare in my humble opinion Mr. Green

It's a no brainier in my opinion. They make the car look much more aggressive.
I used mine every day (before i lowered it!) to get in/out and I'm 6ft with size 11 feet!

Before I got my RRS, I hated the sidesteps. The car I bought had the steps fitted and I intended to remove them fairly quickly. Turned out to be very useful for easing access - they are particularly good at preventing the outer seat squab bolster from being flattened. All too often people "fall" off the seat as they exit that vehicle. The side steps help to prevent that.

They also help access to and from the vehicle when parked in muddy conditions (think about somewhere to step from and to over mud etc.).

As far as those who say "look much better with/without steps"? Well, that's just personal taste.

Do YOU like the steps? The answer to that is all that matters at the end of the day. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
