Break down in france

Hi guys , a word of warning ; taking a RRS to France Is lovely till you break down as I did over a week ago and still no car Big Cry . There seem to be so few Landrover main dealerships here (and yes I had breakdown cover ) that parts have to sent from the UK and even diagnostics seem to take for ever , so think twice before you set off hope to have RRS back Friday (replace secondary electric water pump ) I said I wouldnt buy another one !

I feel for you Evil or Very Mad

I had an issue in France with a brand new jag on a main toll road heading back to tunnel. Filler cap would not open - just kept turning and I was down to fumes Sad

Rang assist who told me nobody in my area and suggested I smash the filler cap off and buy a temporary cap at the garage to get me home then go to dealer Shocked

Needs must so I did Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Hello Anders
sorry to hear that,
The aux coolant pump, in general should not cause a breakdown, should just give reduced power untill you switch off and back on again, but is a pain always stoping and starting.
My sc played up, when i went to the south of france this year, but if i kept to 70mph it was not to much of an issue.
Most probably your coolant pump was wired the wrong way around
This may be of interest

Hi Shepp , secondary water pump was shot car would not do more than 30mph even after turn off and resart , pump was replaced and also was the secondary radiator at a cost of 950 euros car fine now , a week late but we are back in the uk. I was more angry at the fact that Landrover main dealer in Brive could not look at a stranded uk car . My point is the lack of main agents in France ( think about 21 throughout), so unless you drive a french car you can be well in the ----.
thanks for reply Bow down I said I wouldnt buy another one !
