I live in a hard water area and my poor car suffers from extreme water marks.

I have tried rain water but that is no different.

Any ideas please?  2008 Black Range Rover Sports HST, 4.2 Supercharged.

You can buy a filter that attachs to wall after tab and before hose.

These remove the harmful stuff.

I suffer the same issues.

Dont wash in sun or with panels that have been sat in sun prior to washing helps.

As does washing panel at a time rinsing straight away and as you wash the next panel and rinse re rinse previous panels to keep the water moving and not becoming stationary and allowing sun to dry it out prior to being able to dry vehicle.

I use Meguires quick detailer (or Turtle Wax's Ice detailer spray) to remove any watermarks left after a towel dry

it's a car, it gets scratched. When I sell it, if I can be bothered, a quick all over polish for £300 usually shifts most of the scratches. This way, I don't worry about where I park either...  ============

Ady - I like the fact people like rrsboy use the cheap hand job means ours look all the more shinier in comparison.

@ Disco 53, I'd say that any of the above or a combination should help you avoid water marks.
The Aquagleam John talks about, should stop the majority 'at source', and putting a decent sealant/wax on the car will stop the water settling there.
The air dryer is a great idea, but just expect mad looks from the neighbours and a visit from the 'men in white coats' and as awd says, wiping around the car with a quick detaier, should also sort the problem.  ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I sympathise with you Discovery1953, I am having exactly the same problem with my Buckingham Blue Rrsport . Doesn't matter what I do I still get water marks so I am going to get a water softener installed to cover the whole house. Hopefully this will stop the marks completely. Want to get the car professionally detailed but need to sort the water marks out first or it will be a waste of time. Tried the water blaster but sent it back, tried quick detailer, really the only thing that reduces the marks is a clay and polish but it really needs a machine polish.

Has anyone fitted a water softener and did it stop the water marks ?

Prices range from £300-£1200 but you get the benefit of the whole house having softened water

Lol,non of the above bother me My car is always gleaming and not rusting away behind window/door seals.it really only takes 2mins to dry it,one of the best things is the wheel nut area is clean and dry now,have you noticed how dirty it gets in(I'll stop now)

Another quick tip is if you "sheet"water onto it when rinsing the car will virtually dry itself.
